As a commercial lawn care company owner I can tell you many of the different things a place like disney would use. While the John Deere z915 is a commercial mower it is an entry level mower. If Disney i fact uses the John Deere brand it’s more likely they would use at a minimum z950r mower with a combination of deck sizes ranging from 54” to 72”. And for larger open areas they would use a John Deere wide area mower with reels (likely on the golf courses) and other modes of wide area mowers that have more traditional mowing decks. They likely incorporate commercial self propelled push style mowers and finally some combination of small solar powered robotic mowers assigned to an area. Then there are combinations of different trimmers used and employ a large crew of grounds people that not only maintain turf but vegetation trimming as well. I’ve spoken with grounds crew workers at Disney land and the size of the crews range between 5 and 20 depending on job assignment and all crews have at least 1 safety officer. They also have members of the team that are specialist to identify problems with the various vegetation and crews that remove and replace not only turf but plants and flowers that aren’t healthy. And they have crews working in and around the parks 24-7 to maintain pristine conditions. Again pretty worthless information overall but interesting none the less.

I think that the reason Disney has such a huge force to mow is so and area can be mowed quickly. None of the guests wanted to come to Disney to hear continuous mowers outside the windows of their $$ hotel room. I wonder how long it takes their team to mow the grass at one of the resorts.

I have never forgotten going to Disney World at probably 8 years old, so this must've been 1996 or so, and they had an autonomous mower. It was in some space behind a 3 foot fence, so it wouldn't get messed with by guests, and I believe there was a cast member in the general vicinity too, who answered out questions about it. This thing was a roomba for grass before roomba was a thing.

The golf courses are an interesting question. They are managed by Arnold Palmer Golf (At least they were). Is that included in the acreage? Also, Golf courses have many different types of mowers that can range from 16" reel mowers to 100+" gang-mowers. Mowing lawns is probably my biggest stress reliver and would love to mow at Disney when I retire!
@MidwaytoMainStreet3 жыл бұрын
I can confirm that the courses are not covered by the RCID, but don't know about Disney's team. They offer a general statistic but didn't break down the acreage by type or location, unfortunately.

You mentioned, at largest, a ride mower, about four feet wide. What about the commercial, pushing industrial, size mowers, like the size of combines. Those get to be gigantic, and can knock down the gross majority of the grass in the course of a single shift.

*CAN YOU COVER THE RETIRED LIVE TELEVISED EASTER PARADE THAT RAN FROM 1985-1999?* I interned at Disney College Program in 1999 and can say the Britney Spear segment was pre-recorded with Disney College Program kids all in the crowd. They always wanted to promote spring breaker during these televised Easter parades, so they wanted a bunch of college kids in the crowd. Britney Spears had a leg injury and was carried around a lot. When she went to the Nagic Kingdom, no one was allowed in the elevator with her and her body guard carried her in and out of the elevator like a bride over the threshold. XD
