Depends on the field. The mower has the large 1000 pto so works good on the 4555 where the 4250 is the small 1000 pto

Another awesome vid! First time I saw a merger working! I assume there isn't much leaf loss? The hay farm near me got rained on last week,wasn't a down pour,but still got some rainy our merger is doing a good job of picking up the hay. I didn't see any thing left on the ground!

You're really good at driving and flying the drone! Not easy, but you get some great footage! Do you normally have to drive with your R wheels on the crop when running a merger? I have no experience with them but I thought they would allow you to just go down the middle of the row.

Really good looking alfalfa there. Nicely matched cutting /merging teams too. Will there be a 4th cutting if the weather cooperates? Mike, this is really cool seeing this action through the eyes of the drone.

Great Video Mike, the Mowco does a great job? I am curious as to the job the merger does compared to the Kuhn Rotary rake, thanks for sharing

I did a field for baleage earlier in the summer and my dad used the rake to put rows together. It wasn't quite wide enough to put the row on top of the next one like the merger does. It layed the row right next to the middle row so my dad had to make a 3rd pass to combine the 3 rows together after laying the 2 rows next to the middle row. Also a rake has a greater risk of putting stones in the windrow which isn't good for the chopper. Another thing is when you are handling alfalfa you want to be careful and not knock the leaves off the plant. The merger handles the alfalfa more gently then a rake would

I've never run a merger, and was told by a very wise NH chopper mechanic to never rake (Rolabar or especially wheel rake) for chopping with a pick up head, he said they would bring up too many rocks. Is that a problem with the merger, or are you going to find out as you start chopping this cut? Btw, the alfalfa looks GREAT! And the drone shots are superb. But you always do the latter very well.. 👍👍

Thank you Morgan. Another benefit of the merger is handling the crop gently and the risk of putting rocks in the windrow is far less then using a rake.
