That's the same type of sorghum I grew and got the best soil Improvement results. Thanks for the video I enjoyed the ride in your tractor.

30 years ago I green chopped sudex for my dairy cows for a few years. It always got ahead of me. The cows sure liked it.
@floydfarms15783 жыл бұрын
Sudex looks nice! I’d agree cut and bale then regrow and graze.

Yeah sorghum sudangrass is a good feed if yer able to cut it at the leave stage. We as in me and my family know some neighbors they grow that stuff, have really good luck with it sometimes gotten a bit too tall like 6 feet on times...lol. Don't know what they use but I'll guess they communicated with people who deals / handles it in general like feed stores as in Fram stores type where they handle seed for like hay fields, pastures yards that some sort plus even some other stores as well that handles sorghum. Inerways sometimes it is better to cut it at least that stage or younger cuz if you think about it most generally cows only eats the tenderness parts of the plants..lol. Inerways good video👍❤.

Looks awesome Brad. Quite the green thumb have lol.

Unfortunately, they will stomp Down most of it if it's tall when you put them out. Now the fun part, getting it dry enough to bale! Makes some awesome feed!!

We mow and wrap ours every 45 days - get 3 cuttings per year. End up with 7-8 tons per acre over the 3 cuttings. If you graze, strip-graze it to minimize waste.

When you mentioned the tall stubble skids I said good luck. When I bought our new Kuhn disc mower and asked for those they said “Huh? I don’t think they make em.” I had to show them the part number in the book. They acted like I was crazy for wanting to leave more grass behind when making hay.

We cut it with a sickle bar, and raked it with a dump rake. We actually stacked it loose . They did tramp the stems into the manure. It wasn't that many years ago. We did bale alfalfa in the mid 70s. We just were stubborn.
@TheGrumpyFarmer3 жыл бұрын
Will that dry down to make dry bales or will you wrap it for green feed
@LVFFarmVlogs3 жыл бұрын
Probably wrap it.
