This is a quick review and feature demonstration for the Gudsen's MOZA iFocus Wireless Lens Control System
This kit while it works great along with the MOZA Air 2, it is also an independent accessories paired with the Hand Unit that you can use it on any other gimbals, slider, tripod, etc.
It is one of the kit that is under $300 packed with features. 100m distance range, ability to set A-B points, programable up to 3 custom settings so you just have to press play and it does the job.

After struggling for at least 2 hours to calibrate the iFocus hand unit, while referring to the MOZA User manual on this item, I was no closer to having a working wireless follow focus than when I began. Your video at 3:16 to 3:20/8:13 provided the solution that the user manual for the MOZA iFocus Handunit didn't clearly provide - initial calibration of focus movement end points is done from the Motor Calibrate directory sub menu --> Manual Hand or Manual Remote. NOT from the Wheel Calibrate directory ! In my case, 10 seconds of your video was worth more than proverbial 10,000 words ! Thanks !!!

correct, the ifocus and the hand unit can be used outside of the gimbal, I have it on the hotshoe and works as part of run and gun situations. :)

yes, you can use this on slider or tripod, i like this one because the motor is a bit more powerful than the Tilta's nucleus Nano and it doens't have to worry about external power like the Nano does. not to mention, it has 3 programmable settings... one down side is it doesn't do auto calibration, so you have to manually calibrate the hard stops of our lens.

Thanks for the review. What happens when the batteries need to be replaced? I know the battery is built in, but lets say after a year or 2, the battery no longer holds its charge?

Well, I think then this will have to be sent back to the company for replacement... their previous Thumb Controller's battery lasted over 2 years so far and still works, so I think it will be similar life span

I am looking to attached something small like this to my ronin mx. The dial on the remote...does it have to move a long way for it to reach each end of a follow focus. I am asking because i would be using my thumb to turn it and was hoping it would not require turning it around and around and around. Also is it easy to turn so one thumb can easily do it?

You will need two fingers to move if you plan to go one end or the other. For slight focusing adjustment you probably can get away using your thumb to do slight focusing need.

@@mdifilm ouch. I was hoping it could of been tweaked on the speed so half turn could go from one end to the other when using as a THUMB wheel.

Thanks for watching, I am not sure if you can set the speed or time, it's been a while that I did this, will have to look into it, the latest firmware, however, only allow one preset instead of 3.

good video.I wanna ask how about the motor?If I use cine lens like CP.3 will it work?and what does the "24HRS BATTERY LIFE"mean?Work 24H or Standby 24H?

we tested with cine lenses and works great, the iFocus does have more torque than the Nano, however, the Nano can use up to 14v power...

good question, I believe with the preprogramming setting, you can set several. but not sure if it's a good idea though lol

the ifocus can be attach from above via hotshoe or a plate with rod setup. The hand unit can be attached to the handle or magic arm, the back of the hand unit is clamp based.
