I do agree with you points about the CRP. They look great but are a pain to change setting. With normal elastomer and red spring I'm quite happy, the first part was too soft with yellow spring

So, whats the point of purchasing a wheel pushing 21nm and keeping it at only 60%? Wouldnt a 8nm DD or even 12 be more sensible?
@TraxionGG
@TraxionGG Жыл бұрын
More sensible yes, but for some having the bigger range is better as it can give you more headroom and more options. I think i's similar to saying "you don't need 1000bhp, because 600 is more than enough", that's true but it doesn't mean nobody will want or ever use the 1000.... it's just that you will very very rarely ever be able to put your foot down fully.

Well...I still preffer my R5. High quality and running great @60%. Pit Stop is best I've ever used! But....if they update the shaft to COPPER finish...that would be tempting!

the R5 is the pinnacle of cheap direct drives... and i dont mean that in a good way, its cheap because everything about it is cheap, The R5 and R9 use 15bit resolution encoders... thats the lowest resolution encoder currently on the DD market, half of the resolution of fanatec in fact which uses 16bit encoders (15bit is half the res of 16bit) simagic use 18bit encoders (so does the moza r16/21), simucube and asetek use 22bit encoders... they really cheaped out on the R5 though, it uses a slip ring design which by its very nature wears out over time, the only other wheelbases that i know of that use a slip ring are cammus and asetek... the difference is moza rates its slipring to 5 million rotations which sounds a lot until you realize asetek rate theirs at 200 million rotations, or 40x longer lasting, that means if the R5 slip ring lasts 2 years as an example then the Asetek slip rings will last 80 years... massive difference in quality. yeh... no the R5 is craptastic... better choice than any belt or cog driven wheel though, still comes with direct drive benefits ofcourse, i just would not choose one, all the signs are there that its cheap for a reason.

@@jinx20001 Man honestly 1080° divided by 2^15 is a resolution of 0,032° per increment. More than enough for anyone. R9 is not that cheap and it's like the difference between at home and professional tooling prices. You don't need to spend more if you don't use it 40+ hours a week. Also the torque needed to max rotation strength in a GT3 car is 12Nm more or less.

Is the clutch pedal alone so cool and realistic that I should go with the CRP over the SRP? I do not care about the gas or brakes or whatever as i just need go and stop as I drift and not circuit race etc.

i use an asetek invicta which is peak 27nm and i run that at around the 20nm mark while adjusting in game, ACC ill have at 60 gain for example. It really comes down to what you are used to i guess... my wheelbase set to 7nm feels almost dead to me, but before the invicta i also used a simucube 2 pro for 2 years so i have certainly become accustomed to higher forces.

Not a fan of moza products personally, especially the lower end R5/R9, i think the flags are all there to indicate that Moza build their wheelbases to a price rather than building the best product they can for that money... the R5 and R9 for example use the lowest resolution encoders ive ever seen on a DD wheelbase at 15bit (and they call this ultra high resolution in marketing materials). 15bit is half of the resolution of fanatec alternatives using 16bit, simagic uses 18bit, simucube and Asetek use 22bit, maybe its difficult for the average joe to notice the differences unless they have used super high end wheelbases but its just indication Moza are finding ways to save money rather than build the best quality product they can. The R5 is even worse in this regard using a very low quality slip ring to transfer data and power, 5 million rotations sounds a lot, but its really not, asetek also uses a slip ring rated to 200 million rotations guaranteed... 40x longer lasting than moza. The price differences are there ofcourse but again... it just smells like Moza are trying too hard to make super cheap DD bases because cheap DD bases are appealing, what people need to realize is a cheap DD base is not amazing if the DD base is made cheaply. The R16/21 go up in specification as one would expect because they would never get away with such low end components at that price but it still looks rather cheap to me, plastic everywhere and silly design (imo)... i think they are placed far higher than where they should be all because of that QR, it literally carries the brand for them because without that it would just be another cheap chinese product. As for the review... oscillating when you let go of the wheel just shows no basic understanding of the setup and then to claim its the same with all direct drive wheelbases, yeh sorry you have no idea what you are doing.

Moza, marketing first, copy&paste second, product later, it's constantly showing up on my Bilibili homepage. :D When R5/9 came out, They do send their products to some decent reviewers, and some guys that's not into sim racing/ afk for a long time/ not an influencer. And one thing I can recall is, they do change the shipping address "unintentionally", at least they did in CHN. It makes Simagic a better choice. Hell, though I'm using CSL DD pro, I really wish Fanatec can sell directly to CHN with current price.

@@HawxxxGT I’m not the biggest fan of simagic either to be honest, they have a pretty poor reputation amongst many reviewers, it seems the only people who are big fans are owners but ofcourse they have their own bias because they already own them. Some reviewers just refuse to work with simagic anymore and I’ve had a simagic shifter fall apart on me so I’ve seen all I need to see about them. I like fanatec because I’ve had good experience with their customer service quite surprisingly but I have had lukewarm experience with the hardware, had a DD1 and hated the QR, also had some issues with the gold paint flaking off the wheel hub etc and I thought the DD1 was a bit notchy for my liking. But I would still take fanatec over moza or simagic. It’s easy to shit talk brands when you don’t own them, I get that but I like to look at the information and make my own conclusions, if I think something is bad I’ll at least have reasons why, I won’t just hate blindly ya know what I mean :)

@jinx20001
@jinx20001 Жыл бұрын
@@alejofernandez7917 QR is the quick release for the wheels, some have downsides like fanatec because they have some play and noise while using the product. im not saying Moza would not be a good choice for somebody else, i was just giving my reasons as to why i personally do not rate them, however many users do enjoy them, unfortunately there really isnt much choice in that price range... unless your price range is the higher end models like the R16/21... in that case there is ofcourse simucube and asetek, VRS even etc. Moza just has the lower end market wrapped up besides the fanatec csl dd and perhaps cammus... the choice is really not that strong and the moza probably would be the one i would go for (R9 specifically) if i wanted something reasonably priced.
