I am perturbed by the "motivation" question by an African journalist. Peace and tranquility for the people of the affected area is good enough for the troops to be there. For the first time an foreign imposed problem on Africans is being solved by Africans. For sure this was not being expected from Africans. The Rwandan army also has much experience from the DRC. They fought conventional and COIN warfare against the regime of Laurent Kabila and his allies. The Zimbabweans in particular preformed very well against RPA/RDF and RCD-Goma forces.

Only the northern part of the northern province of Cabo Delgado is affected (granted the province with some of the best beaches). It has been business as usual everywhere else. My brother who even works in Southern Cabo Delgado hasn't been affected and for those of us who live in the South this has been nothing but a news story. Stick to places like Inhambane in the south and you'll be perfectly fine. COVID is the only thing affecting tourism in these regions.
