The pitch of the organ is almost a half tone higher than normal diapason, the voicing of the stops is bright, so that the sound in general is lighter than on the organs in Germany, and adjusting this according to my taste by adding octave couplers to get more gravitation produced a satisfying result.

An excellent performance of this massive, majestic and impressive piece by Mozart! He is by no means known for his organ-music, but his f-minor-Fantasia shows that he mastered composing for this instrument, too, when he really put his mind to it.

I greatly enjoy viewing this performance of Mozart's KV-608 by organ virtuoso Hans-Andre' Stamm. I first learned of Hans-Andre after purchasing his two excellent DVD recordings of Bach's Greatest Organ Works performed on the Trost organ at Waltershausen. I have a question about this recording of KV-608. At 7:47 the Basilica organ registration changes significantly. After 7:47 to the conclusion the organ sounds like a digital instrument. Was there a problem with the recording at the Basilica and was a digital instrument used to complete the soundtrack? The performance is very good. Thank you for sharing this excellent rendition of Mozart along with your many new compositions, a privilege to discover your music here on KZbin. All the best from Michigan (USA)!

The organ was build in 1915 Vegezzi-Bossi and restaured and enlarged by Piccinelli and Ruffatti till 1992, as far as I could find quickly searching the net.

dear Elias, indeed, this piece is one of the most dramatic and contrapunctial pieces by Mozart and therefore the only one which is on the same level as the Bach organ works. Often the main theme is played like a French ouverture, but this is wrong, as it is a march in fact.

Beautiful performance. Mozart was known to have been a splendid improvisationist at the organ.

I didn't know that the main theme is a march. Actually I do not know a lot about this piece, only that it was written for a "Spieluhr" ?. Therefor it must be very difficult to play, mustn't it? The sound of the organ is really special, in my opinion. Lg, Elias
