Totally agree with you. In 1998 he scored something like 9 goals in the last 8 games of the season. Played against Russia B in the final international before the World Cup and scored a typical letissier hat trick. He was THE form player at the time and I seriously believe he was the top 3 players in the world at that time. and when hoddle dropped gascoigne he massively fucked up by not taking le tissier.

To think that Darius Vassell, Stewart Downing, Darren Bent, Carlton Palmer, Rickie Lambert, Emile Heskey and Darren Anderton have more England caps than this guy is quite frankly depressing. No wonder we haven't won anything since 1966.

@blakula Good question. I think he was ahed of his time - in England that is. England didn't really use a number 10 in the South American sense. It was still pretty much kick and run in England back then. If he were Brazilian, he would have played for them, I am sure of it.
@1012gunnnnn13 жыл бұрын
In my opinion had Matt Le tissier moved to a bigger club he could have been one of the very best players of all time, A great player can score great goals but it takes an absolute genious to score the sort of goals he scored on a regular basis. You'll be lucky to see a player that does those sort of things with a football in your lifetime. I would love to have seen him play these days, in the biggest competitions and see how he compares to messi and ronaldo.

This makes a really nice change from all the tone-destroying techno rubbish that tends to fill up football comps online. Either that or something equally unlistenable that forces you to switch the volume off. There's a Le Tissier video elsewhere that consists of a choral rendition of the cheesy theme music from the Saw movies. I honestly can't understand why the music for most of these videos has to be so bad.

Ha. I did check the Wiki page for that cup and it is where I found out that European clubs have been pulling out of this cup and it is barely able to keep running every year. It also was discontinued a few if you read it carefully. If you think this cup is bigger and more difficult than the CL than there isn't even a point in debating it with you. The fact you are a Chelski fan says it all really. Glory hunters and plastic fans. Get some pride and move to Liverpool and become a Scouser.
