Scousers were BY FAR the friendliest in general. Met some really awesome lads and girls. It was fantastic. Even just random people working in supermarkets, cashiers, chippies, etc... were extra friendly in a really natural way (not like the fake friendliness you might encounter in London for example).

@@fatdaddy1996 I think Scousers are considered super friendly because of their sense of humor, which is witty and always on point. I can imagine that taking the mikey out of each other is a national sport in the port of Liverpool and that all Scousers are proficient piss-takers from the moment they open their mouths to utter their very first "a lorra lorra laughs", and I guess because other Brits get to laugh very hard when visiting their Merseyside cousins, they confuse that dopamine rush caused by laughter and friendly banter with actual, real friendliness born out of good will from the part of their hosts, who probably don't care if their audience gets crushed under a loose train the next second because they know they can walk a little bit further down the street and find a new audience to cheer and clap on their puns. Because they are Scouses and they sure know how to tell a joke. In summary, the funnier you are, the friendlier people think you are.

These type of vids deal in such stereotypes!.People observing from the O/S but not actually interacting..It's the same in London ,u have had so many transplants to the City(from within&abroad) in the last 20+ yrs or so,and even though they live&work in certain area's,they usually never actually mix with the locals("Good morning" is most likely about the full extent of their experience,&interaction) So If u do make an effort to get to know the locals,as best u can, then after an while,u pay no attention to the local accent. And from my past experience"Scousers"are some of the most approachable&friendly people in the UK..

In case anyone else is wondering where the word 'scouse' came from : "Scouse is a type of stew, typically made from chunks of meat, usually beef or lamb, potatoes and onion. It is particularly associated with the port of Liverpool, which is why the inhabitants of that city are often referred to as "scousers". The word comes from lobscouse, a stew commonly eaten by sailors throughout northern Europe in the past, and surviving in different forms there today" Wikipedia

It's like they resent the letter 't' and when it has to be used it is said harshly, almost aggressively and pointedly. That's why saying "do you wanna brew" is more commonly used, as it contains no 't' at all. This then confuses non scousers trying to do the accent because they think all 't's should be voiced this way, when in fact many should not be heard at all if possible.

Ringo George were both born in the slums of Liverpool at the time. John lived in Speke Liverpool. Where still til this day is a nice area in Liverpool. So I feel like this had an impact of their accents and status. As wealthier people tend to still have a scouse accent, but it’s much more clean and clear. Same with Paul. He was much more clear and clean.

From a linguistic perspective, you're quiet right with your impression. Not because "that's where it came from" (because that sentence is plainly wrong). If you take a look at the characteristicly scouse sounds in this video: fricative t, fricative k, d instead of th. Those are also characteristic sounds of the High German dialects (southern), from which the Standard German language is derived. Take a look at the "High German Consonant Shift". The Standard English language still has the original germanic t, germanic k and germanic th. In the HGCS the germanic t became a german ts or ss sound. (Tide-Zeit, heat-Hitze, sit-sitzen, cat-Katze, tear-zerren...geman z or tz are pronounced like ts). That would be the "fricative t". Germanic k sound became a german kh sound (sounds like the throaty thing they are doing in the video or like the ch in "loch ness", in Standard German it only applies to ks in the end and middle of a word, in swiss german dialects basically every k becomes like that, even in loanwords...very "throat aching"). (Book-Buch, cake-Kuchen, make-machen, wake up-aufwachen...german ch represents the "throaty thing"). That would be the "fricative k". And the last one, d for th, is actually usual for almost all germanic languages besides English and Icelandic, which are the only two to still have the germanic th-sound. This change happend collectively in High German, Low German and Dutch a bit after the HGCS. (Thank-Dank, thorn-Dorn, thing-Ding, think-denken, throttle-Drossel...). So, that might be, where the impression comes from. BTW: The way scouse people pronounce "book" almost exactily sounds like german "Buch" and the way she pronounces "come here" at 3:54 really sounds 100% like german "komm her", with that pronunciation of that particular sentence, she could be my native speaking neighbour, here in Germany.

3:54 sounds like a native german. Komm her = come here. Also the change from English th to d is just like the sound shift in German. The K sound is also similar to that in Dutch. So there are some similarities to German and Dutch I would say. The word book, which is not mentioned here in the video, also has a lot of similarities in pronunciation to German. To my German ear, scause sounds more familiar than the standard British or American ones.

I'm from Liverpool, and I consider myself a true native of this country. I can trace my ancestry, in England alone, back nearly a thousand years, yet because of my accent, I'm often treated as inferior or sidelined. I'd also like to point out that the UK is a sad, old, deeply flawed and bigoted country that is in desperate need of a revolution. Only then can people with regional accents truly move forward and fulfil their potential-something they can't do under the country's outdated mindset. Here's the background and it is a bit long but worth reading: Did you know that the UK was subjugated and reshaped by the Norman invasion (1066 AD) and the robber barons (those were the invading King's cohort)-the same guys who wrote the Magna Carta, but here's the important bit, they wrote it only for themselves-their legacy still affects us today? They slashed and burned the land and took complete control with an iron fist putting people to work on the land they had stole as serfs. The class divisions and the idea of serfs and Norman barons were later used to justify England's imperial conquests, where people were subjugated and forced to work for little or nothing on plantations as commoners, slaves, and prisoners, ruled by occupying landowners. It was then adopted by industrialist who ran mills and factories, many in the North of England around Liverpool, where they used people as commodities. That mindset still exists, and having an accent can mean that you are historically part of that loser group - the unfortunate ones in the UK. It's a marker, you're the little people, here to work and to be kept down and ignored. The working class. The ants. The worthless. Regional accents and being working class can be considered to be almost same thing in most cases. And, for some of us "natives," this outdated way of thinking still impacts our lives. You don't choose your accent; it's a product of your social conditioning. The UK is unfair. It remains a class-ridden society, and an accent can significantly influence whether you succeed or fail. Some people hearing your accent in an interview will have an immediate aversion to you for no other reason. Understand that and how it has a deeper meaning, which many outside the UK may not fully grasp. Some of you might think, "Well, losing your accent is the only way to get ahead," and some do just that. However, this only perpetuates the problem, and the same applies to many other accents. Also, just think what your lifelong friends and family would think of you with this new accent? - remember the robber Barons above, well that's the accent you'll have to speak. You might as well support Man Utd too and eat prawn sandwiches (English joke). You've turned your back on everything that you are. So, it is a big commitment. Understand, to achieve greatly you can't be who you really are. Sadly, 49% of people in the UK are working class yet I genuinely believe that I will never see a Prime Minister with a regional accent of any type in my life time. I hope this helps clarify something that may on the surface seem completely innocent and fun. If you hear an accent don't tell us that you've got an axe to grind with England. We don't care, we have axes to grind too and we live here. :) Ps I have a BSc in Computer Science and have experienced people say "who allowed you to get into IT?", and maybe 20 years old, "who hired a f**king scouser, WTF?". I was, at the time, tempted to give him a "Liverpool kiss"! However, I rose above it and did the best work I could as I was desperate for the work at the time. Luckily, I work mostly with foreigners like a lot of people in IT do now. We are all equal, no one is better, no one is worse. Be kind to one another and let's make something wonderful of this world and all the creatures in it.

Liverpool and Wirral accents are heavily influenced by the North Welsh dialect of Welsh speakers who migrated to Liverpool in the 19thC. Scousers "Chicken" has a Welsh "CH" sound. Like Welsh Bach or Llanerch. Many people(Wrongly) comment that people in North Wales sound Scouse, it's fairer to say Scousers sound sort of Welsh!

I like that scouse accent. It is pretty compareable to the bavarian accent in Germany. Because they have their own words. Need some examples? Everywhere in Germany breakfast = "Frühstück". Only in Bavaria it is "Brotzeit". Like food and scran. Everywhere in Germany a pal is a "Kumpel". Only in Bavaria it is a "Spezi". Everywhere in Germany to go into = "hinein gehen". Only in Bavaria it is "oina genga". This is fascinating to me.
