Anyone who knows the great classics understands that Mozart made the simple profound. His clarity of melody is stunning. The performance here brings all these things to the forefront. The hours of preparation to perform isn't seen or understood until the art comes flowing out of the instruments. This is exceptional because of that work.

To Mozart it was obvious. To his genius, he simply wrote it down. The trademark of Mozart is that it flowed off of his pen and from his brilliant mind effortlessly, perfectly without pretense or mistake, quite obviously To his mind. He did not consider that it was not perfect or that anyone else would not see it as naturally correct.

I love this piano concerto. My daughter learned it when she was about twelve and performed it with a small student orchestra her piano teacher (a famed piano pedagogue where we lived) helped to set up for a special music project by her granddaughter who was an aspiring conductor and a high school senior. The members of the orchestra were mostly her piano students who also played other instruments like the violin and the cello. My two sons were part of the orchestra. So this concerto has a very special place in my heart and listening to performances like this one on KZbin brings back many fond memories.

@joncaju Жыл бұрын
@@peterclarke715 Not sure exactly what you meant by "does she know blues piano", but my daughter is one of those rare classically trained pianists who can improvise on the piano whether playing by herself or with other musicians. This ability was not taught to her. Somehow she just has a gift for it, which she manifested at an early age. So while she doesn't play "blues" music per se, she does share some of the traits associated with jazz and blue musicians in terms of their strong sense of rhythm, beat and syncopation and the ability to play freely and improvise on the spot.

Thee is something perfectly and delightfully apt about this crisp performance being given by a brilliant and youthful woman at the keyboard, accompanied by a small band of first rate young orchestral musicians. They convey Mozart's heavenly gifts for profundity in the midst of joyful creativity. Maestro Vakhtang Kakhidze is nicely suited to the role of the experienced old hand keeping the effervescent youngsters on track, so to speak. Musicians are always learning whilst playing, and so this is delicious scholarship. Marvellous from start to finish. A tonic for the heart and soul!

The intricacy of this Piano Concerto is inspiring and awe. There are exquisite serene melodic sounds and it is delightful to listen to the performance. The orchestra, the soloist and the conductor performed great harmony. Kudos for a superb performance to the young orchestra, pianist and conductor V. Kakhidze. Young Mariana is an outstanding pianist, first time I listen to her performance. The sound mix and video production are perfect.

How about that transition at 6:14 ? Crazy delicious up and down arpeggio's ,changing both Keys and time signatures, from G major up to A#. From a more straight rhythm to 16th triplets. Circling around a bed of chords until coming back to the same phrase but a half step down in A minor 6:27. Crazy good! It's like Mozart was communicating to people in his time" I bet you didn't know music could do this?!"

On May 27, 1784, Mozart bought a starling bird in Vienna, which lived with him for three years as a pet. Mozart noticed that the bird, by nature, was very good at repeating the melodies it heard even after very few repetitions. But even more surprising was the little bird's ability to insert personal variations, and it seems that Mozart enjoyed using the starling as a prompter and as a sort of "creative aid" instrument. One day the bird repeated the 17 opening notes of the Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major, K. 453, which Mozart had composed, with some variations, in particular by inserting a coda on the last bar of the first complete measure and singing a G♯ instead of a natural G in the following measure. It was the starling's version that became the definitive version of Mozart's concerto. On June 4, 1787, the starling passed away. For him, Mozart organized a sumptuous funeral and a worthy burial in the garden of his home and dedicated a passionate funeral poem to his friend. Crd: Daily Factfinder

Mozart Concerti can be challenging, but definitely fun to play. The one thing I don't like are the lengthy orcherst intro and introduction of the theme before you actually start playing. I remember performing Concerto 25. Having to seat there for over 2:30 minutes before you actually start playing is sort of boring and feels kind of anti climatic. It's like the piano is an afterthought. Concerto 5 was a lot better. You can get to it as your mind and body are ready, after a brief intro, instead of waiting. Usually, when you pick up more one from any one composer, you end up with a couple more on your repertoire. Mozart, I've only play two. No. 25 is a bit harder, and more fun, but hated the 2:40 minutes wait to start playing.
