The day of his birthday in 1781, musicians came at night to play this serenade under his balcony. They were sent by his friend the baroness von Waldstätten. It was the beginning of his new free life in Vienna, 10 years before his death...

As of this writing, 23 persons gave a thumbs down to this exquisite composition. How could anyone dislike this gorgeous work? It's really true. There is no accounting for taste.

@@cesteres There's nothing wrong with the audio. The way I see it this is a case of 23 persons not appreciating the beauty of this composition. All of Mozart's works are sublime.

Wonderful performance. Always felt that although WA Mozart was a genius that a musical title was always missing from his musical history. May l suggest 'The Master of the Serenade'. Especially when you consider how many he wrote for both Wind and String ensembles. Just a thought.

The beggining of the Adagio is quite similar to the oboe solo of the aria «Ah per questo» in Alceste by Gluck.

Thanks for that info! Having a look at Duckduck Go's images of Hubert's Swing, we see a number of close variations of that Swing, but none with the 2 statues framing the pic! And, the statue on the right can be seen in different poses! Interesting!
