Mozart really did some great work in 1773-1774---he really bloomed as a composer with his 25th symphony(The little G minor) his first original piano concerto(#5 in D major) This String Quintet, his 6 string Quartets(K173) symphony #29(A major)---Lots of good stuff written in this year---One wonders what inspired him to write so many great pieces so suddenly. Could it have been Haydn's Sturm und drang music? A woman? LOL Whatever the reason, he wrote some of his most magical music in these years.

One of the best pieces by young Mozart. As for the "basso," it was a very general term for Mozart. The manuscript for his Milanese quartets has _violoncello_ under the word basso.

There is an instance where Mozart crossed out basso and wrote violincello or perhaps the other way around, so it might have been specific.

The second movement Adagio is magic.This is the first Quintet written by Mozart and we found in it Haydn's influence. In the Version released by Brilliant the rendition of the Adagio is very sweet and sublime
