another wonderful performance on this beautiful instrument which responds so well to your perfect touch, articulation, and sheer musicianship,this surely must be one of the best forte squares available.My own Broadwood (1825) was rescued just two years ago,and after total restoration responds well to regular use and the repertoire it was designed for.

I'm studying this piece right now! It sounds great, especially on that square piano.

The jokes, fun and emotional playing is absolutely refined yet daring. Mozart is here.

The original tune is by Gluck, from his French opera La Rencontre Imprevue.

Masterful interpretation and a gorgeous instrument. I expected a better audience reaction, but the venue was probably small and intimate, as it should be. Powdered wigs optional...

Does this square piano have round hammers or rectangular? I know of ones which have either. I've heard these are really hard to keep in tune.
@AABrownell3 жыл бұрын
As I recall (not owning the instrument), the hammer is slightly rounded, but the curvature is almost perpendicular to the string, rather than parallel as in the modern piano. Yes, tuning and various regulation issues were very much prey to environmental conditions.

I wonder how it's playing feels. Is it similar to the harpsichord?
@googlesucks144 жыл бұрын
it feels nothing like a harpsichord. You don't have that "wall" to push through that you have with a harpsichord. If properly restored, as this one is, and depending on the action, single or double it should feel like a modern piano only lighter.
