U don't need to change. I do this full time and I have everything. I welcome software drum programs superior drummer more for live drums, battery, maschine.. and can create on all, but the MPC 2000XL is my desert island pick, because it makes me create in a different way thats more physical, eyes off the computer..Its sequencer and sound engine is amazing, it has a special tone and knock to it, regardless of what style of music you create and it locks w other machines like a tank..The best investment anyone could make.. When I got my 2000 it only came w one floppy disk 2 stock 15 stock sounds.then they upgraded the zip disk for the 2500.

Still have my 2kxl. Had plenty offers from ppl that wanted to buy it from me, but I refuse to relinquish it. The feel of the pads is phenomenal and, like someone said, using the slider to trim samples made workflow better. The only complaint I had was the timestretching. It took so long sometimes that I could go take a shit, come back to it and it'll still be timestretching lol... Overall, one of my fav purchases EVER!

@@dalejohnson1796 not surprised! I don't know where I read about it... This was one of the main reasons why I sold my 2000 and got the XL (that, and no folder support on the 2000... Huge mess of files). That SHIFT+SLIDER to trim is life-changing. Reminds me... I need to make a 2KXL Part 2 video on my channel, and cover sampling. Lots of SP-1200 stuff there BTW 👋

If you're into breaks/loops, move on. There's a bug where you have to add a couple of dead seconds to your samples if you want them to loop right once they're in a program. I struggled with it for a couple of years before getting real and getting an SP1200.

One of my main regrets in life is buying an MPC2000XL over an SP1200. SP1200 is the sound of Hip-Hop. Especially drums. It's a cool UI and the layout is awwsome, (I had the zip disk too so plenty of space) but the MPC has no sonic personality whatsoever. That jog wheel tho was butter.

Right now the new mpc's are like a daw basically..Just in a hardware box..The ONE is the best buy for the money.
@chowdermonsterr10 ай бұрын
Make the switch to the off white beige big box hardware and you’ll never go back. Daw will only be used to record into and mixing/mastering. Programming your actual beats tho…you can’t replicate that feeling by using daw. Not even a midi padded box to the comp can capture the workflow of a true vintage hardware sampler
