I don't like the idea of installing things on the internal built in storage. As the Akai sound library grows that will eventually get full and cause people problems.

Bruh DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING on the internal drives. It will cause you major headaches and you will have to get a rest from Akai. Just use SSD, SD or thumb.

What you should get is very personal. For some, the Key 61 was too large. That being said, if you bought a Key 61 and are thinking about selling it for the Key 37, you probability bought the wrong thing in the first place. You should deliberate carefully before spending your money again. I think most of those who are getting the Key 37 aren't Key 61 buyers or looking to suppliment the MPCs they already have. I probably will sit this one out. I'm good with the Key 61.

You’re right bc I’d buy the 37 to replace my One Retro. BUT…It’s missing a couple things that would drive me over the edge to buy it and that’s: more ram, maybe another set out outputs would be nice, one mic input would be amazing. It’s just a little tooooo close to my MPC One spec-wise to justify getting it for no good reason.

I got one. Honestly my biggest letdown was akai and their plug-in licensing lol. You have to keep disabling them on other devices to get another device to activate, because the limit is 2 or 3. This is the 5th device I own that runs MPC OS, along with a desktop and laptop. I can’t remember all that. They were petty leaving 1 USB-A port. Also the USB-B port is 2.0 when the others had 3.0 or 3.1. Anyway I grabbed it knowing it had less hardware I/O. I have the other MPC’s though. I typically never record anything with a mic to the MPC so phantom power was like ehh whatever. My situation with SSD drives is like each device that could take a SSD has a 2TB Evo. Realistically you won’t leave no files behind because the MPC collects all files into a folder when you save. Drums I pick my favorites, but I know I don’t use ALL of them and probably never will touch most of them. The SSD for me is more like safe keeping. Someone could just take your SD or USB drive out to save their homework and you never see it again lol. Ram never hit the ceiling, but I always bounce, and repetitive stuff I trigger from a pad instead of using an audio track for it. A plus I noticed today is the key 37 has more physical buttons a lot of them are just renamed, but they are there. Once you get it though, I bet you 90% of that stuff won’t matter. You’ll be right at home once you got your sounds and plug-ins setup.

With each device you should be able to use most and spread it out unless they are ones you paid for then yeah it’s limited to one. Like I have the key 61 and the mpx se those are separate devices so they should work on 4 to six devices for what comes with them. I could be wrong but I have 5 too and I run them on all of them. Other than that I say save the content on and external ssd and use it with the unit you are using at the moment.

I agree I made this video just to let people know what they might be missing but I have the mpc one and i can make what ever I want with it as well. There are no limitations like you said there are easy work arounds. It just causes people to take extra steps or have more accessories but they are all capable.

@@THEKINGOCAESAR I’ll try that. Makes sense. I use my X the most, because it’s hooked up to my patchbay, sound modules, and synths. I use the plug-ins least there. I’d want the plug-ins active in something that moves like the live II and key 37 now. I know it was just a perspective video, a lot of times there’s a follow-up like why you should. It’s more neutral…you not gonna say don’t buy it lol. That’s for the viewer to decide.

61 has: 4GB RAM, XLR inputs with phantom power, touch strip, backlit mod wheels, more layout buttons, MIDI THRU and 61 keys! The 37 fits into studio spaces that already have other keyboards, only 2GB RAM, only 1 USB port, and no XLR inputs. Good review, thanks. BUT to be fair MPC One+ and Live2 only have 2GB RAM also.

@@josephkissel6062 i got the 37, i am more than happy with what i can do with it, i have a voucher for a free plugin that i havent used yet, as i find none i am particulary interested in. So yes the 61 is one thing and the 37 is definitely a good choice if that is all you need for the price point

Maybe it’s just cause I use a few akai products [midi] that this view may seem biased… But there line aside from flagships, are like the hotdog/hotdog bun conundrum (10 hotdogs 8buns type beats) …too many hotdogs [pause🤷🏾‍♂️😂😩😳]….
