If you want minor and major samples to go together without relying on guesswork... You need to work out the relative minor key for the major sample, or the relative major key for the minor sample... Basically, C Major = A Minor. G Major = E minor etc. Relative minor keys have the same notes as their major key, the music is just centred around a different chord in the scale. Google the ‘circle of fifths’ most of them also show you the relative minor keys in the centre! P.S the altered minor scales like harmonic/melodic minors and gypsy scales won’t always fit perfectly over the major, because they have different notes going on.

This is good information my bro, this is what i needed to see. I work in studio one 3.5 and its pretty tedious to sample records / mp3. I just came to a conclusion that i am going back to an MPC just because it's the master of sampling. I will be using studio one and MPC X together. So good looking out on the video.

Great Tutorial!!Also I think it's important to mention in preferences under "other" all the way at the bottom there's a option to improve the quality of the time stretching,"Elastique Pro" being the best quality at the cost of greater cpu usage. Prior to adjusting this Algorithm I really wasn't feeling the quality of the time stretching but my thoughts changed greatly after making this adjustment.

every major has a relative minor where the notes are exactly the same. for example. the relative to c major is a minor. both are the exact same. if you have a sample in cmajor and one in a minor, they will work. its the same key. another way to figure this out is the 6th of the major key is the relative minor.

This video is awsome. I use my mpcx in stand-alone can you do a video on how to do these tasks without a computor. Also i have a bootleg version of ableton live on my computor. If i install mpcx 2.0 on that computer will the pace software screw with ableton.

Also possible to change pitchkey in realtime for each individual chop? My third question is about chop "overlapping start/end points". Im having a weird problem programing drums. When I modify each sequence to edit drums, none of my new notes play on the grid. They apear on the grid but do not actually make a sound. It used to work. I can delete notes but not add any.

millionhertz For drum programs it's software only due to CPU limitations. Audio tracks can be warped in standalone tho.

Maschine Masters, i got my mpc live and i am a bit confuse to match automatically all my 16 samples with different bpm together... i can to that with my Toraiz in 2 minutes. I know that the layout is difference but there is any quick way to tell the MPC Live that i want all the audio clips i load in the different pads to match and stretch a choosed bpm tempo? Thanks

Why cant AKAI get timestretch and Warp in perfect quality? I can stretch any good quality wave file i want in most DAWs and get something that doesn't sound all messed up like that. You'd think 2010 and later mixers would have that down. :( lol Are the sample rates low?

Turn the MPC Live on, connect the blue usb that came with the MPC LIve to the computer. In main mode on the MPC Live press the MPC Chip icon on the top of the screen and then press controller mode. You can run the 2.0 software before or after in controller mode . Hope this helps..

C Leverett If you want to matche a sample with another that you don't know the key, play them together and switch the key transposition for one of them until it seems good to your ear's. While using time stretching of course to stay on metronom.

yo fam. I just got the beta installed and I got a major problem. SOmehow, in the 2.0 beta you can not adjust the track volume of external synth (midi tracks). In the older versions you had a fader in the software but somehow its missing in 2.0 Do you know anything about that or if this will be available again in the final software? cheers

Saddest key? How? It's the same thing as F major. It's only sad if you want to make it sad. You can make all twelve major and minor keys just as sad as the next. This is a myth. All of these scales are relative to each other, meaning, you can play exactly the same song in all of those keys.
