Yo This Helped So Much THANK YOU! I wondering if you had any solutions to the mpc drumpads having increased latency when using it in the vst. Im hitting the pad and theres like a one sec delay from when i hit the pad and then the kick or snare hits

No problem... Maybe try checking the Buffer settings in the Audio settings of your DAW. Try lowering the buffer a little at a time to see if it gets better.

Hey man, thanks for the tutorial. This was really helpful. There's one problem I still have and hoping someone can help... When I am in controller mode, I cannot get the "clips" (sequencer mode) to play the same as they would in standalone mode.. Normally, in standalone, I would hit pads in a "clip" kit and they start playing the demo loops (like can play multiple pads at the same time and they flash yellow); but for some reason in controller mode in my DAW, when I hit pads in a clip kit nothing happens. I'm using logic pro x by the way; every regular drum kit works.. just not the sequence loops for some reason. If you could help me that would be amazing!

Great video! I was looking for a while video talking about this way to produce with MPC Live. I use a turntable to sample, going in channel 1 & 2 on my soundcard on computer. I tried to make the recording using the MPC live software but it cannot receive / see the signal. I had to record in other channel (audio channel) on ableton, them save and open on MPC software. Do you know if it is possible to make this recording directly through the MPC live software (connected to ableton)? Thank you very much for your video and attention! Greetings from Brazil!

I'm pretty sure you cannot sample inside the MPC plug-in. You'd have to use a workaround such as you mentioned.

To lay out tracks in a more visual way, and be able to complete songs and record automation horizontally, add vocals, mix and master etc. it’s just the next step if you’re doing full songs. I was on MPc One for a while just getting back into music but eventually I felt like I needed a laptop and ableton to complete projects. ☮️

I have, but i don't like the workflow..you can send each pad/track to it's own track in your DAW, but it takes more time to set it up that way

yeah i did this with ni maschine back in the day: you set up your miditrack with the plugin in it and lets say 16 additional audiochannels routed to your liking. wrap it up in a group and just drag that in your user library in ableton and there you have it for whenever you want to work with the mpc

I want to start my projects in Standalone, then move to Controller mode with MPC running as a VST in Ableton like you show here.... BUT, I use a lot of external hardware synths, and when I switch to Controller Mode, all my hardware midi ports disappear. I've searched for a solution, and there isn't one, other than disconnecting all of my hardware from the MPC, connecting it to my laptop, and going into every track on every sequence and pointing them to the hardware on their new ports on my laptop. Majorly sucks, kills this ideal workflow.

im trying to follow along but im having trouble from the jump/why isn't anything popping up when I click the plug-ins tab at the beginning? I re-installed the MPC2 software to make sure I had everything downloaded but I still don't have the MPC64 plug in option you have drag an dropped to abelton. I also don't have the option under preferences>hardware "record/overdub" under the controls. do you know a fix for this? n. my firmware is also up to date so im at a loss rn

when you install the software it installs the vst files in a separate location. mine was in some folder called Steinberg in Program files. Then you copy that dll file into the folder where all your other ableton vst's are

Not those done within the MPC...The MPC is basically the full MPC software in a box within Ableton...it's not coming out of that box unless you export the .wav or MIDI. You can set it up to go straight to the mixer of Ableton from within the MPC software though...then maybe do some automation...that's more than i'd do though

Hey man this is great tutorial so first of all, thank you! I have a question: Would it be any reason for Ableton Live to handle better heavy VSTs that the Akai Software (in controller mode)? I'm guessing it should be more or less the same but maybe because the resources are split differently it might work better in Ableton? Pretty edgy question but if you have the answer I'd take it! If you're using a Mac, skip controller mode. Open Both programs separately and sync the programs via the Mac IAC bus with Ableton as the master. Host your VSTs in Ableton and sequence in the MPC or in Ableton. Throw the VST MPC plugin out. There's no need to have midi limitations. Use something like Blackhole to send the audio out of the MPC into Ableton. (I use an RME digiface USB. So, I have 32outputs from the MPC to ableton.)

Whatever works for you man...I'll stick with Controller Mode lol. It's not limiting at all for my workflow. I rarely even use it that way, but when i do..that's what i need. I have had Blackhole and all that (mainly for making vids/streaming in OBS...but it isn't something i'd want to use in Production too much)

@@BrandonBLysticLee I tried controller mode, but I couldn't send midi from the MPC to my HW modules, I couldn't control the MPC from its transport, and I couldn't use the MPC for sequencing VST instruments. Using them both open at once, I don't really ever use Black hole. The RME gives me 32 outs from the MPC into Ableton internally. Also, either Ableton or the MPC can be used to sequence VSTs or Hardware. It's pretty much like using a hardware MPC as I had for years (60II, 3k/4k etc..) If what you have works cool. I didn't like the limitations. It was like an epiphany when I used them both in standalone. My HW names come up in the MIDI area of the MPC or ableton, so everything can be routed whichever way I need. It's like having an MPC with 12 midi outs and 32 audio outs and Apogee converters. (I should mention in addition to the RME digiface USB/Apogee AD16x for audio, I use a MIO XL for midi.)

@@seekingtruthonly.4299 Those aren't limitations though. Most of that is user error. The MPC has to be set to 'PlugIn' in its settings to use the transport. I've used it that way with a Moog, Wavestate, Peak and Minilogue XD all being controlled by the MPC in Controller mode with Ableton. It couldn't get much smoother. The 32 outs does sound dope, but I don't mind the quick dragging my clips to Ableton either. I rarely use more than 10 tracks anyway from the MPC. Appreciate the feedback though..kind of a different perspective and use case

@@BrandonBLysticLee None of it is 'user error." Setting the MPC to "plugin" doesnt get me full use of the Transport, It gives me overdub/record. I can overdub and write to the MPC, but if I hit "play start", it doesn't start the MPC and stop doesn't stop it. I have to start the DAW, follow the DAW's timeline, and I can control overdubbing on the MPC. (Using them separately, I can start the MPC from any point in a sequence and go fix something, then if I want to hear it with the Ableton tracks, I press start ableton on my PUsh2. So that's what I meant by limitations. I'm limited there compared to how I've worked for years with HW MPCs.) Also, when I pull the VST up in Ableton, I have one midi output option in the MPC: "DAW". (That's not user error, it's how the software is written. ) If I open it outside of Ableton it's syn'd to Ableton and, I can see all 12 of my midi outs from the MPC's sequencer. (I can see those same outs from Ableton's sequencer. And my gear comes up by name. Roland JD990, Yamaha Mofit etc... in either the MPC or in Ableton). How did you get midi to the Moog from the plugin? Do you have any other midi output option than DAW from the plugin? I don't get an option to sequence hardware from the MPC when I'm using the plugin since DAW is the only midi output. I essentially have 12 midi outputs that I can't see from the MPC sequencer. Having come from Hardware, I get tempted to grab an MPC X, but given that I already have 12 midi outs and 32 audio outs, I'm not sure it would help me. Most of my friends with X's who've done major label records primarily work in controller mode. So, I'm not sure if it would help. The HW would only give me 8 outs, and I doubt the converters are better than my Apogees.

What type of computer? If it's a Mac, you may need to update DisplayLink drivers (PC too actually)

I’m not using Ableton Link, this is the MPC Plugin in Controller Mode. You may want to try reinstalling the MPC Software and be sure to select the plugin install when you do (if you don’t see MPC as an option now)

The timing is off. I could never get good timing using the mpc with live. Always at least 20ms delay

Strange how no one talks about this feature. MPC has so, so many hidden stuff for new users. I think the main issue is Akai does a poor job communicating them. I've read the manual but there's only so much you can get through and most people dont do that. akai's youtube guides suck too. MPC w/o random youtubers documenting would be a whole worse experience
