Sampling is a legit art. You don't need to be Technical to make history. Great examples: Nirvana, the Beatles, pink Floyd (David Gilmore's guitar work, minimal but poiniant) These guys where master's of their basics. And could create some amazing shit. Sampling is one of those things that if you know how to use your gear, you can easily learn it, and put together beautiful pieces of art.

Hi, I've sold my MPC Studio because I would like to upgrade to MPC Touch or MPC Live mk1. I'm really thinking about the MPC Live because I can just do music wherever I want with the battery and 1tb SSD expansion. What is not really clear for me is: Can I open the MPC software and MPC Live at the same time and as I save the project it will be saved in my MPC Live internal HD? My computer screen would act just as a 27" screen for the MPC? In my setup I would like to use the Mac IAC driver to send 2 midi out x 16 midi channels and receive midi on Ableton Live where I would have 32 channels of VSTs (Live will be my Rompler and MPC my sequencer) and route audio from Live output to MPC input, so I can have the best of all the worlds.

I have MPC beats. It is basically the free MPC 2.0. What exactly are the differences between MPC beats and MPC 2.0?
@labandlegacy2 жыл бұрын
It is exactly the same, it just has a limit on how many tracks you can use. 8 midi and 1 audio I believe, while the full software has unlimited tracks. I rarely use more than 8 midi tracks personally. At most I’ll use 11 or 12, but 90% of my beats are 8 or less.
@Emily_M814 жыл бұрын
Excellent and I agree. I got into modern MPCs for stand alone, sure, but eventually I had to admit to myself that I don't mind hybrid setups, and I absolutely *love* my DAW (Bitwig). I'm almost always at a computer, and in fact, my MPC is right next to my computer anyway. So using the software in controller mode was not a stretch at all, and it works very well using the plugin in Bitwig. Not much really changes for me using my MPC stand alone or as a controller for the software. Other than if I turn to the left, I have a 35" ultrawide monitor to work with, too lol.

What’s good bro! MPC Beats/MPC Software is not a good DAW at all man. Like it’s good for composing beats and learning the MPC basics if you plan to get one of the hardware units, but for vocals and mixing I would recommend using something like Reaper, Studio One or Ableton. I use Reaper and it’s great because it has an unlimited trial period, and you can buy a license for only $60. It gets updated every few weeks for bugs and new features so it’s always got the latest capabilities most times before the bigger DAWs do, and the owner is an independent millionaire so he doesn’t try to nickel and dime people for new features. For a hardware user like the Force, you’ll love it. I’ve been using it since 2008 with a MPC 2000xl.

Would you have any idea of what's happening with 2.10 on my side? Is there some setting that I've mistakenly chosen that's having it do that?

I bought the MCP One about two weeks ago and am catching on to the ends and out of it already fast. And as I'm learning it I see the less flexibility it has compared to using the software. I use FL studio so my workflow is way faster in software. I also see how long it takes to do things in the MCP compared to software and to me that's not good for me. The software has more capability and flexibility with the MPC in controller mode. So I'm using the MPC in controller mode it's better for me that way. I'm thinking Akai realizes the MPCs need to catch up with the digital world too. I was caught up in the hype of an MPC. So now I'm not really that impressed with it. But I'm still going to use it anyway. Just So I can have and add on to my beat-making as a controller just to use some form of hardware.

You might be surprised how much fun you have if you ever take a week and use it by itself on vacation or something. That's interesting... I've actually never tried to do that because I usually start my beats in standalone then go to Software to finish them. I would assume you want to click on the xpj file and not the all programs file. If that's not working make sure your firmware is the same version as the software version you are using.

@@labandlegacy funny you mention that cause when I look at the firmware it said 2.7 on the hardware. So how I update it. Because now that I think about it I don't remember updating the mpc one firmware..thanks for the insight. No pun intended..lol

No, you can use the unit in standalone mode any time, but you also have the option to connect it to a computer to do use these enhanced capabilities.

Hey bro I got a question, how can I use third party drum kits since I can’t use the expansions I. Controller mode instead of using the same ol drum kits tht comes wit the MPC? I like using it in controller mode as for using my plugins and vsts from Fl studio to make progressions , melodys, etc but can’t use the 3rd part expansions tht I brought for my mpc. Can u give me some feed back

Do you export your audio or drag and drop audio to DAW? I tried out the export explode and it was instant in Logic and it sounds good.. The software is overwhelming at the moment.. I only had the X since last week. I've learned a lot. I think I like the standalone way of working because it's not glitchy.. When i'm on the software, I feel there's sometimes lagging but doable. It's nice I'm able to open up Serato there.
@labandlegacy4 жыл бұрын
I use both. Depends on if I feel like organizing things ot not. If I'm just composing on the fly or need to add a quick part I will drag. It's good to have options though so if standalone is more reliable for you, I would stick with it 💯💯💯

I had the mpc 60 in 1989. Mastered it and had a few mods too. I traded it to a friend and he still has it. I never had another one. I've been depressed about the decision this whole time. I'm thinking about a X. What say you?
@labandlegacy3 жыл бұрын
The X is gonna be light years ahead as far as modern capabilities, but the sound character isn’t nearly as distinct. The thing I like most about the modern MPCs is you can use them the same way as the old ones, such as chop samples, manually and even destructively… or you can utilize the new non-destructive, faster methods. How “fast” you want to do everything is completely up to you. Ergonomically, I think the X is the best thing smoking, but man… I’ve never had so much fun as the Live 2, being able to create anywhere, anytime while still being super capable in the studio.

Great demonstration. Now what I’m hearing you say is the MPC One is not exactly “great” in standalone? That it really needs to be interfaced with the software via computer to shine; get the most out of?
@labandlegacy4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it has to. It is very capable on it's own, it just has the option to integrate with a computer to enhance it's capabilities. I use my Live completely in standalone to compose, and put the beat into the software to mix using advanced plugins.
@chahan20164 жыл бұрын
Bet that. I have been making beats by way of iPhone for more than ten years. I’m ready for a new journey😅 I am trying to decide between going the 404sx route or diving into the MPC world. It’s just a hobby for me...
