Love both props, outstanding builds. I was poking through my electronics stash the other day and found a couple of those LCD "keychain" devices for storing pictures of your kids or whatever. They have tiny LCD screens that look like a perfect fit for the commlock, and have USB ports to load images and charge a tiny built-in Li-ion battery. You can step through loaded images or set them to do a slideshow. They're cheap this time of year and should be a great substitute for more involved, expensive display options.

Very interesting, I was looking for something similar to that but couldn't find anything.

@@TrekWorks I see them on impulse-buy racks at for instance Walmart and other big box stores, hardware stores, any place wit lots of customer traffic. I'm sure they're available online but as we all know, you never know what you're going to get.

Very nice. Wish I'd seen that sound board before I built my Commlock, but I'm happy with the lighting effects I added. My laser pistol came out even better than the Commlock - I can switch between blue (LED) beams and a real laser. Still, that sound board is a terrific finishing touch!

Man that turned out fantastic! You really went above and beyond on this. I've always loved the comlock prop. I may have to pick up this kit. I binge watched the entire series on Amazon Prime about a year ago. There were a couple episodes where Koenig's comlock had the numbers on the buttons all off center or missing altogether! 😆 Excellent work on this! I love it!

Thanks for all the videos time effort and hardwork this year Boyd. I don't really build models myself but always look forward to seeing your great work. I'm a collector of 1/6 figures statues and life size busts. I have never watched space 1999 but will get round to it at some point. Happy Christmas Boyd and to your wife too. Stay safe, Keep well and all the best for 2022.

Is there no way to use the small screen from a SONY Watchman to make the viewscreen for this Commlock?
@TrekWorks3 жыл бұрын
Yes, in fact there are other builders going all out on these with mini tv screens and micro processors with all kinds of effects. As I mentioned in the video, this build was to show a reasonably easy, low cost way to add some lighting and sounds to the model.

Somebody should make an audio board to go in the model comlocks. The 12/16 version sounds thin and a bad choice of samples for $300. The open-door sound should be wired to an easy to find button and not the number pad. The LEDs on the stun gun should be bright!
