After searching for 1.) How to wire a little relay like this. 2.) How to program one. I have to say this is the best video out there! A lot of them go on and on with various circuit board/technical terms. But this tutorial shows how mpjaonline had it wired up, (thats the main thing that helped me past my hurdle!). This video saved my Halloween Prop! Much thanks!

Bought two on sale , no instructions in the box. After attempting to decipher the vendor`s online nstructions for 5 minutes , not well translated from whatever language they were orginally written I might add.I searched for a video hoping to find one coherent and intelligible, I found this video ... I wish I had found the MPJA webstite from the start ..it will be my go to from now on . THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS TUTORIAL VIDEO , CONCISE EASY TO FOLLOW AND UNDERSTAND , superb job .

Depends on your sensor if it has an adjustable set point (on-off) and a transistor output to act like the switch I used. Plus a separate power source for the delay timer 6-30Vdc. Thank You

Thank you very much for this awesome video. Just received this in the mail, but had no idea how to program it with no instructions. If you ever do another one, it'd be very helpful to hook something up to the NC or NO side, to demonstrate the on/off function, like a light or fan or something.

Thank you thank you thank you! I have no experience working with timer relays and as is the case with most small electrical components you can order online the instructions are poorly translated or there are none at all. The available instructions for this particular timer are notoriously challenging to understand and I gave up trying to figure out how to use it months ago. Now after watching your tutorial I can finally use it.

This is really good. But I got some questions. Can you use a 9 volt battery or other batteries to power it? Do you have any videos on the wiring? I am mildly confused with the ground cable. Does it need it? I want to make sure I wire it with the trigger and the battery and everything. I'm kinda new to electronics and I just built very simple things.

Thank you very much for this video. I am trying to use programming mode P3.2 (OFF and ON in a cycle, without trigger). However, it always starts in OFF mode. I need it to start ON, then OFF (I am using the relay with a separate timer that has a minimum period of one minute. I need the relay to limit this to, say, 10 seconds. This way, I can set the main timer to power up the relay, and the relay stays on for 10 secs, then shuts off). As it is, I get a mode flashing for a few secs on power-up, then it starts the loop in OFF. The loop works OK, but all this delay at startup is frustrating. Any way to set P3.2 to start in the ON position, no off? There are no instructions. Thanks!

You do have to have an external trigger voltage. Simply using a switch doesn't work. When using USB power there's a 3.2vdc across the power terminals but it's not enough to use as trigger voltage. As such I think USB power is only really useful if you are using P3-1 or 3-2.

Thanks for the video, helped me understand the trigger function. Can anyone recommend a 2-channel version of this? I want to power 2 circuits sequentially, then have an off cycle. Currently using 2 of these with the first's NC triggering the 2nd when the first closes, but thats a lot of wires =/

Great demonstration, thanks. I'm using one for an alarm system where I use a trip wire attached to a pull pin that operates a micro switch to send a 12 volt signal to trigger the board and sending an operating voltage to sirens, lights and GSM dialer. Now, here's the thing, It works most times but occasionally does not and I have a theory that the time length of the signal, on occasions, may not be long enough. A trip event pulls the pin out super quick and, once pulled, the micro switch instantly returns to its normally open state. I suspect that if the micro switch closed circuit condition is only in the order of milliseconds, it may not satisfy the boards signal parameters. What do you think? Ps. I have just modified the micro switch assembly to remain closed circuit after activating, until reset, so I am testing a few more times to check my theory out.

I'm looking for a unit like this one that times in tenths, hundredths, and thousandths of a second. I also need it to activate the relay when the trigger is pressed and held, then when the trigger is released the timer starts and turns off the relay when timed out .I believe that would be the p-4 function. Would you or anyone know of one like that?

You did demonstrate that even if the power was turned off, the relay module still remembers the last setting you set it to. Now, my question is..will the relay module still remember the last settings if I unplugged the battery? Or does the battery need to be connected to the relay at all times for the relay to remember the last setting? Hope I make sense to you.

I have been using this device in Program option P3.2 successfully for almost 2 weeks. However, tiday it has developed a problem. My PL time was 15 minutes and CL was 90 minutes. I had set Loop 120. Today the PL count down starts and then it trips and starts all over again from 15. It is not going to CL mode. BUT when I tried testing it in seconds instead of minutes it works fine. Also while testing I noticed that when the loops finished the switch stays in PL mode. Any advice anyone? Thank you

I'm using one of these to control a device in my car so that the device has a delayed shut down when the ignition is turned off. I was hoping to use a 12v output from the ignition switch to trigger the signal so that when the key is on, the relay turns on, when the key is off, theres a delay then the relay turns off, simple... However I noticed you're using a momentary switch, is it safe to use an ignition switch that would be on the entire time I want the relay on? In other words do you have to use a momentary switch to keep from overheating the signal input or opto-coupler etc?

I have a question, when using the P31, infinite loop with time on and time off, is there any posibility to override that, one time off and leave a bit longer on and then continue the normal loop? I saw the different options but I didn't see any that does exactly that. Thanks so much for your help and your great videos!!

I'm looking to buy this with the black relay. They also do a double relay vs. I would like to know, if i get the 24V dc input version. Can i wire 24V dc in parallel to the trigger port. Does it have a memory? In other worlds i would like to power it up and it automatically counts down the pre-programmed time till the relay switches? I have a large DC amplified speaker, i wish to add speaker delay protection in series with one of the speaker wires, one unit for treble and one for bass. I would use the double vs. but they only come with the 10A relay.

nice! I have an old car (brasilian pickup Chevrolet Montana, same as Opel Corsa C) and setting ignition on position 1 doesn't turn the ACC on (it turns on only when holding the key pressed in) for now the ACC IN signal for my Android headunit is coming from the ignition 2 position, so it only works when my dash is on, whith all the engine systems, with engine running or not I belive I can use this module setted on program 4 to allow my headunit to keep working for 30 minutes after I turn ignition off also I can cut power for the module when locking the car thanks for your video!

Can this timer be used for a freezer door left open for say 5 minutes then ring the alarm. And if door is closed within set time and door is then closed timer resets. No Pizzo buzzer noise. Trying to make safety for the freezer door. an open door led light comes on. What I want is if the door is not closed in a set amount of time the timer then would go off and send power to the Pizzo buzzer.

Hello! I have this unit and your video has been extremely helpful however I'm finding that program P2 delays the relay as expected and then turns it on (LED lights up) HOWEVER if you press the trigger while the relay is on, the program starts over. In your example, the trigger starts the program but then is ignored if it is triggered again while the relay is open? I also found that my counter is counting UP, not DOWN like yours. Thoughts?

I hoped this item would work for me, but my trigger signal is inverted. I need the function of P4, but my trigger signal is always on, and the trigger would be a short off pulse. I think it would work if there is a P4(.1) with instead of OP, a CL variant. Otherwise I would need to use a second relay to invert the signal. Any suggestion for similar products, or modifications?

Trigger voltage is 3 to 24vdc most people use the same power source as the timer itself. Look at the section of the video for P2 program it is delay on but max “OP” on time is 999 minutes.
