I did this without any program change message. Just program the MPK (with software) that every MPK program uses different midi channel 1 to 8. Than on the MPC you can set the midi inputs for every program and the multi arm and/or by the monitoring function ("merge") to control the programs fully independently what is going on the MPC. So you can play simultaneously on the keys a plugin synth or keygroup, and use the pads for drums, one shots or clips on ch10 (or what you set to the pads). And because of every MPK program goes on a different channels, this means that the knobs also follow this logic so with the MPC midi learn function you are able to set up every MPK program to different sources (practically to that specific instrument you use on via that midi channel). And in the meantime you can use the MPC pads for another instrument, or track mute or anything you want. For example... MPK prg 1 = keys: plugin synth A on ch1 + knobs: plugin synth A parameters on ch1 + pads: a clip program on ch11 MPK prg 2 = keys: plugin snyth B on ch2 + knobs: plugin synth B parameters on ch2 + pad: drum program on ch10 MPK prg 3 = kesy: one shots drum program on ch3 + knobs: effect parameters on ch3 + multidrum plugin on ch12 (because it use different note range than a sample based drum program) etc. ...I think this method gives you much more options than the program changing method. Of course it need a little more preparation on the MPC.

Very cool tip. I just tried the track change with an old Novation SLMKii and it works! I had to send these program change numbers : Track 1 = PC 0 Track 2 = PC 1 Track 3 = PC 2 Track 4 = PC 3 Track 5 = PC 4 Track 6 = PC 5 Track 7 = PC 6 Track 8 = PC 7 So it works out as tracks 1 - 128 are program change 0 - 127

Awesome video. Thx…. Could you show the process of showing bass for bass lines on the keys, pads as melodic samples on the MPK and any drum kit on the MPC LIVE? I’m thinking as using the melodic samples to use to make drums grooves while switching up the melodic samples on the MPK to enable a variety of melodies to make grooves with.

Useful tip! This will most likely work with any MIDI-controller that sends standard MIDI program change messages. The cool thing is, you can quickly turn prog change on and off on the MPKmini, so you can use the pads for other control functions (sending note- and cc-messages) while performing the program.

Can you assign to all the pads and keys and THEN use the mpc one to the side with it's own set of drums and such or does the mini just mimic what's assigned to the main drum pads on the ONE?

change programas vía mpk is Something I dont know con be do it, i have like a year trying to map the knobs of the mpk in the mpc one software style. where the knobs change his funktion depending on the screen you are work ing. you know how to do this in the mpc? make the knobs in the mpk work like the knobs in the mpc just like in the software. so much thanks!

@@davidcorraleslopez612 I've never used the MPC software (on a computer). I just use it in standalone. But I think I know what you mean. I've also tried to get midi controllers knobs to work like the Q-links, where their function changes based on what screen you're on. I don't think it's possible. The closest I've come is using something like a Midi Fighter Twister controller, that has buttons on the side where you can switch to different presets on the controller which also switches what you can control on the MPC.
