Your content is amongst the best out there I've seen on KZbin as far as info and content. I love all the coyote builds and that you guys have fun but still show what your videos say they do without clickbaiting or bs advertising every 2 minutes. Much respect.

Ken, great video thanks. I think that is the first video where a machine shop shared their thoughts on the TIC with any authority. Sounds like if you have a good gen 3 count your blessings if you don't get it sleeved.

Great Video and information on the 2018 block, I have been leaving comments on this issue for months and a few of the responses have been that the spray bore was done on the 350R. Now I know that Ford cheapened the process, everyone needs to see this.

So the problem is/was someone possible mixing up grade 3 blocks with grade 1 pistons for the gen 3 Coyote cars, hence much more play for the cylinders to slap around. That would explain why some have a tick. It's great to hear a master builders input on the topic finally. Great info!

I have an old factory coyote with mismatched cylinder heads so I believe it. One gen 1 cylinder head, one gen 2 cylinder head.

I bet it’s old stock that needs to be used but at what cost? Now Ford has to fork out engines left and right to fix all these “lemons” out there.

0:09 Nice. You're the first shop i've seen that attaches their deck plate with studs vs bolts when the engine will be built using studs. Ive been bringing this up for years with nothing but crickets except Texas Speed that told me it doesn't matter which doesn't makes sense considering the added deflection bolts put into a block vs a finger tight stud with a nut on top.

So it is true the 18+ engines have a problem that according to Tim gets compounded probably by users not warming up the engines before beating the crap out of it.
@thereissomecoolstuff
@thereissomecoolstuff 6 жыл бұрын
I was wondering about warming it up thoroughly. I do it because I have a Whipple and 10 qts of oil and live in a cold climate. Oil temps in the middle before I diddle..that much growth because of temperature is amazing..

On my 03 cobra I always let the car get warm before it sees any boost. I’m not making crazy power but at 620/585 I’ve had the same built motor for 12 years now and it doesn’t skip a beat.

I wonder if they would recommend a thicker oil because of how loose the 2018’s are. Maybe a good 30 grade is better suited for this engine then a 20 grade?

The Voodoo 5.2 is known to consume oil above levels of performance based, built, power adder Coyotes. Is the Voodoo’s oil consumption an inefficiency that is corrected with a sleeved block? , or is it just the nature of that engine and no getting around that

Say I threw in a set of forged rods and pistons in a gen3 block. Would that fix the sealing issue since the pistons will be properly clearanced?
@anthonys3906
@anthonys3906 Жыл бұрын
I know it’s super late but nah the opposite in a way. Sleeve it so the bore is consistent and reinforced. But since you’re in that deep might as well get the forged rods and pistons lol. Then from there you’re golden. Some mild boost and you’re making a reliable street monster. I’d rather keep it around 800hp and have the piece of mind you’re over engineered at that point. 10R80 handles 800. Beef up the drums and clutch packs and increase clutch hydraulic pressure with a trans tune. Would be perfect. 18-19s are the fastest ones ironically btw lol

I bought my 2018 Ford Mustang from Pine Tree Ford back in June 2018 (on my channel). I have had the noise ever since. Pine Tree denied hearing it on multiple instances. I took it to Meadowvale Ford, they hear it and do a bunch of repairs in 2.5 weeks that it was in. I picked up my car yesterday, and it still has the tick. Then they presented me with the Bulletin that Ford has put out recently, which states that the tick is 'normal'.

So the clearances in the spray bore liner and the piston is the reason why my engine rattles from 1700-2200 RPM? Especially when cold? Here's a video. It sounds like shit. I also found a bunch of ferrous flakes in the oil filter on my first oil change at 4908 miles. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3iXqI2OmNBlisk

I am in Ontario Canada. Having the same ticking issue with my 2018 Mustang GT. Bought it back in June 2018, and was present since I bought it. Took it in to the original dealer 2 times, then took it to another dealer for second opinion. They are both denying hearing the noise, and are not spending enough time to reproduce the issue. In fact, the Oakville Ontario Ford told me it is my normal exhaust sound LOL....you guys tell me i'm not high on cloud nine? My Stang: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHzRlmmeoqmfi6s
