Keir Starmer has been asked how he will address voters lost over Gaza. His response isn't encouraging.
Plus: Suella Braverman takes aim at the pride flag; and the Tony Blair institute is banging the drum for AI.

@@flamboyentpromotions3471 Yeah and Nvidias stock value is an indication that its a bubble. How long have we been waiting for AI driven cars, what innovation has happened that's going to suddenly improve them. We also have evidence Tesla covered up loads of accidents caused by their AI driving system. Even Waymo this google thing still has tons of problems and accidents, and can only work in a strict limited way and it still doesn't fully work. Just because people have caught into the hype and everyone is using AI doesn't mean anyone knows what they are doing. We've seen so many problems with these LLM's the bias's and the hallucinations, we aren't even close to solving these. And I know people don't care and think we can just ignore them but these problems won't just go away they will get worse and cascade upwards and just cause worse problems further along. These current LLM's aren't going to save money or jobs. They are just going to cause a lot of economic and social damage. We have people giving up moving into the creative industry's because they think its hopeless, but these AI's aren't viable to replace human creativity unless you enjoy derivative crap and people will get tired of that eventually and the AI's will struggle to create anything truly new or interesting. Personally I'm for AI and AGI and am aware of some innovations that could result in it and LLM's aren't it. But only if its used properly ethically and with the consent of the people, not for corporations to make billions of profits and reformat society to their whims.

If developed by the state, collectively and open then utilizing AI could be a massive boon for the nation, but as usual it will be at the detriment of workers and in favor of capital

Exactly this, bit of a pity it didn't get mentioned. At this point the entirety of the neoliberal project is based on not understanding (or hoping others don't) the most basic macroeconomic outcomes.

Borrowing money to pay dividends is tantamount to embezzlement. Thames Water is my Water Company. I don't know why I am paying money to these shysters. The CEO should be facing criminal charges rather than receiving a bonus.

This was an excellent episode tonight. I’m always impressed with Helena. She is spot on about Labour ignoring the votes (or lack of) from Progressive and Muslim communities. Frankly I hope Labour keep digging that hole as it’s in everyone’s interest to have more Independent or Green MPS in Parliament.

It is a pretty common topic within technology leader circles (CTOs/CIOs/CISOs) that the return on investment from gen AI projects has been really low. We are going into the trough of disillusionment on it. Even in it's current best use case, as a replacement for software engineers, it is so far away from being suitable.

Re the points at the beginning about diversity, I agree that diversity of MPs can be important and that class diversity of MPs in particular is lacking. However I feel that diversity of perspectives is much more important and definitely lacking in parliament. There isn't a lot of value in having more MPs from marginalised origins if they just parrot the party line and in many cases reactionary views to assist their career progress. What matters most is the direction an MP is going in, not where they've come from.

Aron I think it would be extremely strange if the government of 14 years was not extremely upset to have lost its position. Why would they be happy to be the opposition on their first day as opposition. So it’s a completely silly thing to say “ it’s almost like the tories only like it when there in government “

Yup, pack them all off to Coventry, or at least Meriden (middle of the country), to a new campus with a "commons-in-round" like the Riksdag or Scottish parliament with enough seats for everyone, & cheap, overnight campus housing for the lot of them. No more paying for second homes in London.
