Times were definitely different back then. Those that witnessed the event probably never have ever seen an elephant and when she went wild they panicked not knowing what even triggered her. Even the handler with his inexperience didn't expect her to react that way. So I don't blame the townspeople on their reactions, but that handler got what he deserved. Thankfully we live in a society where we're more educated on such things and have passed laws on mistreatment of animals.

Instead she walked over to the guy and smashed his brain into the ground. Are you seriously trying to justify that? That elephant wanted blood. It purposely walked over there and murdered that guy even after she was safe.

Well honestly the dude should have never poked a huge elephant for one and two it's supposed to be a wild animal meaning it should be in the wild, animals don't have the same instincts us humans do, I doubt they under stand what murder is come on now.
