I'll be 57 this coming November. This was the best commercial, I couldn't get enough of it. I was in elementary school when this commercial came out. There was this friend of mine who had the idea of singing this song in class(he was very talented). One of those guys singing was "Sunny" of "Grease" fame. I just loved this commercial. 👍🏼👍🏼

Thank you for posting this. I have looked for this funny commercial for a long time, going so far as to contact the owning company of Mr. Bubble who did not own a copy as it was created by a former owner of Mr. Bubble. It is still super funny!
@nationalcoasternews57987 жыл бұрын
dvdaffy You contacted the company? That's odd because this was posted by the official Mr bubble channel which the company has.
@goodmaro3 ай бұрын
@@nationalcoasternews5798 Yes, but they added videos that collectors contributed, and may not even have had a KZbin channel at the time dvdaffy commented. A couple they still don't have from about 1969 include one that you can find elsewhere online now -- the little girl in the bathtub singing "Bathtub ring is going down..." to the tune of London Bridge -- and one that didn't show the product actually in use, but started with the mother, like a policeman, "blowing the whistle on bathtub ring" with an actual whistle as she ordered the family to stay out of the tub unless they used the product. Another they don't have is the Mr. Bubble Pool Party using multiple pools, a child (or portrayal of one) voice-over and the *liquid* version of the product from the 1970s; the earlier pool party using the powdered version from the 1960s is online.

Why did they stop selling the powder version?
@MrRemark21 Жыл бұрын
Most American sources say it is or was kind of dry.
@goodmaro3 ай бұрын
Really they didn't have much reason to sell it after 1971 when it was reformulated to reduce irritancy produced by sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate -- which was done in the powder version essentially by cutting it with inert filler. But because they had an established customer base, they kept selling the powder alongside the liquid for about another 20 years. Mr. Bubble had been one of several powdered "family" unscented bubble baths since about 1960 (the first being Charlie Eaton's Bub, then Matey) based on the formulas of the high-suds all-purpose household detergents of the time. By being priced cheaper, Mr. Bubble out-competed Matey -- which then, however, went on to become *the* product in its class in England. The liquid, introduced shortly before the powder was nerfed, was always a different formula, and scented.

I hope that ad was aimed at adults. If I'd seen it as a young child, I'd've been turned off to all bathing! Like the Tide commercial (of a boy and girl sinking into a running washing machine fully clothed) scared me of washing machines.
