If I'm doing math correctly, Trey was 16 when he wrote this stuff with Mike, who would have been 17. Or something like that. I consider Grizzly Adams sophisticated classical music, and these dudes are child prodigies. This album shreds so much harder than any other metal. Trey's solos in Bungle Grind are the best of all time. I just saw him so it live in Baltimore last week .. so energizing and starstruck after loving this as a kid. I never imaged I'd see Mr. Bungle live. They were powerful and tight.

Once Mike Patton through a banana at me from a window, unfortunately I don't have the banana as it was in the early 2000s but its a funny memory it was actually at a Tomahawk gig and I didn't have a ticket and he was enticing me to try to get in through the window. I thought I could climb the downpipe and shuffle along a first/second story ledge. It was only when I was hanging from the external windowsill by my fingers and his hench security came up to the window and starting pounding my fingers with his fists I realised I had to climb back down or potentially fall and break myself lol. Once down he came to the window and through a banana at me and laughed.

Wow I never heard this early of Mr. Bungle and I didn't realize how heavily they were influenced by extreme metal. It's interesting how much they lost the metal sound in their later music. Their trajectory as a band is extremely curious. I love Mr. Bungle, one of my favorite bands for sure. I just read that they reunited and I live in the middle of nowhere so I won't be able to see them live, but I hope so much that they end up releasing more studio music. California was my first album, I bought it randomly on CD in 1999, (I was about 15 years old), and it's still magical. the first time I heard it I was just very confused but it kept growing on me and I listened to the rest of their music and it didn't stop growing on me.

Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Mike Patton in general...been in my top three artist of all-time for a long time. When I was a kid it was 'The Real Thing'. I dusted off that album years later to find out there was sooooo much more. Got Angel Dust, King for a Day, Album of the Year...and at the same time found Mr.Bungle. Self-titled, Disco Volante, California....fun, wild albums I kept on repeat. From there I had to hear more and got into Tomahawk, Fantomas, Peeping Tom, and pretty much anything he touched. Listened to all this stuff over and over and over. Flipped the fuck OUT when Sol Invictus came out. Faith No More had a new album!? Get out. Dream come true. I probably kept that thing in my car's cd players for a good year or more. So awesome. ....so fast forward to earlier this week when I heard Mr.Bungle was gonna be in three cities, limited time only, select shows....WHAT?! I jumped out of my chair, literally. I see they will be playing only 3 shows, and performing the album "The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny." The first part of me is instantly figuring out how to make plans and get off work to head up to NYC, but the second part of me is saying..."I've never actually listened to Raging Wrath...wtf man. You call yourself a fan!?" So I did, just now....it's awful. It's terrible. I understand it was 1986, this obviously experimental band just starting out and attempting to find a sound which eventually was out of this world, genre-defying, and all over the place never staying in one spot...but Raging Wrath is just not easy to listen to. This is coming from a guy that would probably defend Mike Patton farting into a kazoo for an entire track. Though seeing him live is on my bucket list, I am not as quick to buy tickets, book a flight, take off work to hear what is easily the worst collection of songs I've heard the guy put out in an over 30 year career.

See u guys there. I hope I meet as many fans as I did at the SF Zorn Cobra show that everyone flocked to that one year. So awesome.

I'm recording a demo for a band that this drummer is currently in, in Eureka CA :) Jed is a super cool dude and has a lot of cool stories to tell. His jam room is awesome and he is a phenomenal drummer.
