Mr. Dawa Steven Sherpa grew up seeing famous mountaineers from around the world. His father had a trekking company and his mother used to run a hotel at Thamel. So, mountaineering was imprinted in his mind from a very young age. As a child, he did not know what he wanted to do in life but he was sure of one thing that he will be climbing mountains someday.
After completing his studies from abroad, he came back to Nepal. Mountaineering season had just started then, so he decided to climb Mt. Cho Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world, without informing his parents. He successfully summited it and was assured that he is capable of climbing mountains.
He, then, thought of climbing Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world. But during this journey, he faced many issues related to climate change and waste management in the Himalayas. That is when he decided to be the change in saving the mountains!!
