He’s a mix of Cartman and Randy in a very good sense. Cartman for his ideas and ego, and Randy for how far he can immerse in his phases. He’s kind of what both of them can become, while being his very own character, and I really like it.

Garrison was born gay but doesn't want to be gay even tho he came to terms with the fact that he was born that way doesn't mean he wants that for himself in all reality Garrison is the most woke character on south park but does shit in the most unwoke way possible. He is an astonishing character for another reason. I’m gay, and I get tired of the arts relentlessly portraying people like me as sane and wholesome, as if it’s a perpetual apology for centuries of persecution. I write plays, and I relish putting in homosexual characters who are twisted and anarchic and immoral. A reviewer wrote that I’m homophobic. He’d obviously not done his homework that I’m a raving queer. So, I find Garrison a refreshing antidote to hand-wringing, patronising “solidarity”.

I'm not gay, but i think i understand where you are comming from. Showing homosexual characters only as "sane" "good" or "wholesome" is overcorrecting the errors of the past. They are still normal humans after all. And Humans aren't only nice, kind and wholesome. They can be jerks, they can be evil twisted as*holes.

How can you have a hero's journey if you're already written as a static Mary Sue. I'd love to see an adventure story were the meek or selfish character who happens to be gay, goes through an arc of struggle and survival. There's also so much potential for a gay antihero. Literally being excluded from society for most of history. We're literally mutants 😂💪 There's only a few I can think of. We're still men and women. It's almost like gay people are considered "fragile" and it's incredibly condescending. Imitation game, the last of us, the wire, and the boys come pretty close.

My interpretation on the Mambla episode is Garrison was genuine in saying he wasn't a pedo and did actually think Eric was going to be an older guy. Firstly, because I think it's funny, but also I don't think we really see any pedo-like behavior from him outside of that one episode, but I could be misremembering this one

correction: after coming out, Garrison did not stop making homophobic remarks.. yes, he toned it down, but he still did it occasionally.. also, South Park is not "the most offensive show" because it's not offensive.. are people offended by it? sure.. but people are also offended by pancakes, so public opinion does not determine whether a show is offensive, only whether or not they intentionally attack groups, which they explicitly don't.. they never "attacked" (for lack of a better word) anyone, except Barbra Streisand

Great video. About to watch another one. I thought of Cartman. (My favorite character) btw. But Randy is catching up to both of them. I'm not offended...but i find it offensive that you assume that the writers of the best cartoon (imo)... in the world... aren't thinking about the deep seeded, toxic narcissism that Mix Garrison, Eric Cartman and Randy Marsh all display by causing chaos. All 3 of them weave a web of chaos and destruction, only to abandon everything and go home. I think the people that are capable and talented enough to write material for television, film and Broadway...are thinking about the characters inner feelings and spirit.(so to speak) just saying. As someone with bpd, he really doesn’t seem like he has it. He would be much closer to histrionic personality disorder. I can’t describe it well but here’s the first thing that comes up on google: Individuals with HPD are often described as seductive, self-indulgent, flirtatious, dramatic, extroverted, and animated. They may feel underappreciated or disregarded when they are not the center of attention. Individuals with HPD can be vibrant, enchanting, overly seductive, or inappropriate. Saying outrageous stuff to get attention isn’t a part of borderline but it can be a part of hpd. Plus he doesn’t have symptoms of addictions, sh, and thoughts/ attempts to off himself. He doesn’t dissociate or feel chronic emptiness either. Basically he just doesn’t fit the criteria for bpd, it’s just a more well known personality disorder.
