I'm British. US tax-excluded prices are infuriating. They were explainable years ago. Then manufacturers printed one price on the packet to save shopkeepers putting a price sticker on by hand. However, now many stores print shelf-edge price labels, and the cash-register 'knows' the correct price by reading the bar-code. So it wouldn't be much extra effort to print shelf-edge labels that included all applicable taxes. IMO tax-excluded prices are a con to encourage spending. Best Wishes. ☮

​@@MrGiant In much of Europe, prices labels *must* be the price charged at the till. It's that simple. For example, in the UK it is illegal for stores to show misleading prices, eg. prices _not_ including tax (sorry this is long):: *_Misleading prices_* _The law makes it illegal for businesses to mislead you about the price of an item._ _Misleading pricing information can be given in a number of ways. The following are some examples:_ _- The price shown on a shelf edge label or a price ticket is lower than the price actually charged at the till;_ _- Incomplete information is given about the price;_ _- _*_Not all charges, such as VAT or a call-out charge, are included in the price quoted;_*_ and_ _- False information is given when making comparisons with other prices (e.g. in a sale)._ VAT is Value Added Tax. It is equivalent to purchase taxes. VAT-rates are set for categories of goods. For example in the UK basic food and drink, and children's clothing have a VAT rate of 0%, no VAT is charged. Some food and drink has our _current_ standard 20% VAT: alcoholic drinks, confectionery (USA candy), crisps (USA: chips) and savoury snacks, hot food, sports drinks, hot takeaways, ice cream, soft drinks and mineral water The rest of food and drink is 0% VAT. No local tax, 'state tax', or other purchase taxes. Alcohol also has 'Spirit Duty' charged per litre of pure (100%) alcohol, as well as VAT, That 'Spirit Duty' is already included in the marked price of alcohol. You now have a broad understanding of UK food and drink taxes and all price labelling. Best Wishes. ☮

The thing about guns in America that nobody ever puts in one of these videos is the number of lives saved by guns. Statistically, that number is 70,000 or more crimes or more per year stopped by use of a gun, but studies show that many many many more people use a gun to defend themselves...it just never gets reported because they only have to show the gun, and never really have to actually use it.

@@mikejburns There are myriad whys for showing a gun...mugger on the street threatens you for your wallet or purse...crooks break into your house looking for an easy score...thug tries to rob the corner convenience store...there are endless variations. The real question is whether guns save more lives than they take, and the fact is that they do.

@@mikejburns I gave examples of actual crimes that are stopped all the time...not fears of crimes. Fear is not uniquely American..it happens everywhere. But that does not even count all the illegal guns...and that is an issue that is quite American...and is not something other cultures deal with.

@@iKvetch558 I appreciate the comment.. thanks for being real . But I, as a Canadian Farmer who owns guns, doesn't understand why Americans need to walk around with them. A .22 and a 12 Gauge is all I need on the farm. No threats to me here walking around The city. @Mr. Giant. Help me..
