We Serbs have a lot of speeches that heroically raised the morale of the army, and this, for example, is another speech that certainly describes the Serbian mentality about the libertarian spirit that we have. It is a speech from the Second World War of a certain Captain Tasich during the April War, which lasted from April 6. to 18. 1941, when the army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia - the Yugoslav Army (Chetniks) resisted the German invasion. "When you've fired all the ammunition, and the enemy is still advancing - on the bayonet, when they break your knife - on your hands, when they break both your arms - on your teeth, when your last tooth is knocked out, as long as you can move, while they have you - attack! When they hit you fatally, make sure that you fall in the middle of their path, that they bypass you, jump over you, hide you, that you get in their way dead! Then, the non-commissioned officer who shouts "You're charging, brothers!" - I will kill immediately. They only shout: "Follow me, brothers!" That's how a non-commissioned officer shouts if he's in front of a hundred soldiers, he shouts like that when he's left alone - and charges. What I hate most in the world is to see a dead soldier and a living non-commissioned officer... ...Then, if you've ever heard of the word "retreat", forget it from today. You will not hear that word, while you are under my command, while our houses and children are behind us, while the hands of our fathers are far away in sight. There will be no retreat. Everyone can retire, everyone can move to other positions, we will not step back! For me, there are two commands: the command of the Supreme Command and the command of my country, and the country is the rope of every other command and it orders: not a step back! Whoever looks back will see the barrel of my gun and that will be the last thing he sees. You and I, brothers, left our homes dead - let that always be on your mind! We're dead, we've got nothing to lose. If God allows us to win, we will be born in this war! In this war, we are defending the fatherland - the land of our fathers, we are fighting for our son's - the land of our sons. There is no place between the fatherland and sonship!"

Serbia is small only in terms of the number of inhabitants, but it is large in terms of its history of pride, courage and justice, and all this is permeated with faith in the one and only God! the Serbian people stood up to those numerous forces of evil that set out to destroy it completely, which no other nation in the world would do, and this happens throughout history, and only thanks to God this great nation survives!

Major Gavrilović was captured 26 years later, in 1941, after the collapse of the Yugoslav Army, and imprisoned in a concentration camp near Nuremberg. He was released in 1945 when he returned to Belgrade seriously ill and died ten days later. He was buried in the city he heroically defended with his soldiers.

Pozdrav.

In order to understand what a heroic act it was, you should know that later the Austro-Hungarian commander of Belgrade had a monument built for the Serb defenders of Belgrade. This is the only time that the enemy built a monument for the enemy.

" Teci reko" -Beogradski sindikat "Đeneral", " Vila sa Košara"- Pavlina Radovanović ,a girl from Kosovo and Metohija. She lives in Orahovac in an enclave, like many Serbian children in KiM. Not just trade- Turkey was their ally and an utterly incompetent one at that. Sultan didn't want to join the war but one of their Pasha's had staged a false flag incident and forced his government to join WW1 on the side of Axis (Germany-AustroHungary). Turkish Pasha ordered hundreds of thousands of soldiers to go towards the line with Russia, and did so without providing them with supplies as food, clothing for winter or anything else... no logistics whatsoever... just a simple order "Go" xD by the time the troops had reached from one part of Turkey to their border with Russia almost all of them had died or were incapacitated along the way... Later he blamed it all on Armenians saying it was because they betrayed them which resulted in the Armenian genocide that Turkey denies till this day... Serbs have smashed 3 offensives from 10x bigger Austro-Hungary and when they finally had to face combined might of Austro-Hungarian and German empire together with Bulgaria they could resist no more and had to stage the great retreat to Thessalonica(Greece) Btw the wife of the Greek king was of German nobility and because of her amongst other things Greece broke the defensive alliance with Serbia that stated they would have to help... Allied forces forced Greece to allow Serbian army to retreat to Thessalonica... Right before the collapse of Serbia in WW1 the Germans have offered us to switch sides and join them. Official response of Serbia was "Our path is carved we shall stay true to the Entente and die honorably". Serbia back then enjoyed an EXTREMELY honorable reputation so much that Germans raised a monument to fallen Serbian soldiers because they were amazed by us. American President also ordered the Serbian flag to fly over the White house and all over the streets to honor the Serbian accomplishments in the war( you can find the story on the official site of the US embassy in Serbia - if they hadn't removed it) In the previous "Balkan wars" Ottoman Pasha would refuse to surrender to anyone except to Serbs and when he offered his personal weapons to the Serbian Officer in charge, the Serbian officer refused and allowed the Pasha to keep his weapon... During the war with Bulgaria in the second Balkan war the Bulgarian army had run out of medical supplies and Serbia not only allowed the Red Cross to provide humanitarian aid but also shared ITS OWN supplies with the enemy since what Red Cross had brought was not enough! :O Red Cross made a plaque in it's HQ saying "Be humane as Serbia in ..."

One of the interesting and very important informations related to this heroic event is the memorial, placed by order of the German Field Marshal von Mackensen personally, after the end of the fighting and the beginning of the occupation. The memorial was erected in 1915. within the German military cemetery, in the part of town called Košutnjak. The inscription in German says: "Hier ruhen serbische Helden"- "Serbian heroes rest here". Even if there were no other information about this event, about the heroic defense and bravery of the defenders, this inscription, placed by the enemy, says everything. de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Kriegsgr%C3%A4berst%C3%A4tte_Banovo_Brdo

"The Defence of Belgrade" refers to the historic events surrounding the Siege of Belgrade in 1456. This siege was a pivotal moment in the struggle between the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary, led by John Hunyadi, a prominent military leader. ?????? This is so wrong. It was WWI.
