Josef Gangl is seen by the Austrians as a hero and has a street named after him in Wőrgl, Tyrol. Thats a huge honor for a german soldier from WWII

Sad part is that Josef Gangl was the only casualty among the defenders of the castle. The man that had seen it all. But the only thing he didn't get to see was peace. He died at the age of 34.

This is actually only the second strangest battle in the end of ww2. The actual strangest "battle" was known as Operation Cowboy in which Americans Germans and a banished Russian Prince and his followers worked together to save Austrian horses.

Yes! I was waiting for this one. This is an amazing story. I truly do not understand why this is not more well known. But I will say that I did not know about it until I heard this song. Sabaton is really doing a great thing.

frankly given the sides involved i think the british and japanese one is a contender for strangest battle. British, indian, japanese, and french troops under a british commander VS japanese troops and vietnamese communists. i dont know what indy's video on it is like but if you're interested theres a video called "British Vietnam War - Operation Masterdom 1945" by the history chap that goes in depth. also, for your own safety, dont mention the allies vs the underwater aliens again. i heard the whistleblower who leaked those documents has never been seen again.
