Shittiest weapon in any NES game. Makes the torch look great. I hate trying to jump on/ off it too. Most of the charm of the game is probably the OST, but it sounds like complete ass in the PAL version. The Famicom music is far, far better.

The whole gimmick of the game (no pun intended) is to find creative uses of the star weapon by trial and error. I, myself have been playing this fame for about 8 years, and still, am finding new ways to use this thing. I believe its multi purpose is what makes it very fun! New ways to defeat bosses/enemies, new approach options, and everything else! The only thing I saw on the stream was mostly complaints about it, and him using it incorrectly :)

There are two lockout chips used for the PAL region, those are called PAL-A and PAL-B. PAL-A is for the UK, Italy and Australia market. PAL-B is for the rest of Europe and is more common. I think you got a scandinavian (PAL-B) Mr Gimmick since I believed it was only released there. The Top Loader doesn't check the lockout so it must be something else preventing the game there.

@TwoBlackMarks4 жыл бұрын
Swedish is actually pretty easy to read, as long as you understand it.. :D When you showed the manual the first part was Swedish, then Danish, then Finnish, maybe it would be a Norwegian part in their too, since Mr.Gimmick is supposed to be a Scandinavian release only I think, except Japan. I dont know much about NES though. So I could be wrong. And then you can ask, why is there Finnish in the manual when Finland is not part of Scandinavia? I think we know why, but still, Finland is not part of Scandinavia, so I guess it probably is not a Scandinavian "exclusive" after all? Since it likely was sold or exported to Finland by Bergsala in Sweden.

It's Pal and released when SNES was already out. And Mr Gimmick was released only within a small Scandinavian area. So sadly the most of those amazing games were thrown in the trash than sold. And a price for that true gem of Nes era costs around 14000 in Britain. But in euros and dollars it costs even more. It is just sad that this game is so expensive. Because it is one of the prettiest games I've played on the emulator. And soundtrack kicks ass as much as the difficulty. And ofc this game is one of the best platforms ever made.
