When i gave a deeper thoughts on this universe, one thing makes sense when they doubt themselves how can they be the only superpowered beings. The answer is simple: The Clover organization or something relating, eliminated heroes and villains way before the present day, keeping things "In balance". While the evidences of the past heroes and villains have been recorded in the comic books, people were made to believe that there's no such things as superheroes and super-villains, making people doubt themselves, even David for a while. The three main characters were the only ones showing themselves, while the others remain in the shadows.
