I saw him doing the Sykes show live in Torquay with Hattie Jacques in the 1970s. Everything that could go wrong went wrong, The mechanism to changes scenes kept failing etc. The show was still hilarious because of Sykes's add-libs. Comic genius.

Thanks for the post. I'm not sure why this little gem arrived in my recommendations. This is the first time watching this and was surprised and pleased to see so many of my favorite comics and comic actors from the last quarter of the 20th Century. Most of them sadly missed but still in the memories of the remaining Septuagenarian, Octogenarian, C-19 survivors.

Thumbs down? Those are people who were born very difficult and also missed certain parts of the brain, they were too late when they were handed out and then you get these kind of people who absolutely cannot appreciate the true British humor. I'm a true Dutchman but I love British humor, great!!!

It's the attention to detail. The initials JH on the lorry James Hunt was driving. Then, in the church, real life man and wife (at the time), Rula Lenska and Dennis Waterman, as the bride and groom. Eric Sykes was a genius writer and his scripts were brought to life by marvellous British actors and James Hunt (who also appeared in The Plank).

Ah, Kathy Staff, later to be Mrs. Nora Batty of "Last of the Summer Wine" fame. If you like this be sure to look up the "the plank." Personally, I like the 1967 version better. Don't forget "Rubarb, Rubarb." If that's not enough, look up "dear ladies," tales of two spinsters who were quite funny in more ways than one.
