The good old treading on the Garden rake gag Always gets me, even at 47yrs of age, is still crack up, especially when it's part of a combination of gags as this is, first the Champaign cork gag, always works when someone thinks they're gonna be murdered in a Comedy sketch, then the falling in to the fountain thinking he's been shot, then the fountain stream gag, then the garden rake gag to finish that sequence off, it's Genius.
@laurallama733 жыл бұрын
They had great timing when performing physical comedy-demonstrated best, IMO, in “By the Sea,” and “The Picnic”. No dialogue, just a TRUE comedy of errors. Yes, absolutely comedic gold. 🏆🤩😂✨✨✨

As a staunch admirer of David Suchet as the quintessential Poirot (I'm from Belgium myself) I think Ronnie Barker pulled it off quite admirably and Ronnie Corbett is hilarious as always. Nice surprise the see the Bucket woman is also involved...Dame Routhledge is excellent in portraying these posh women... I enjoyed this immensely... thanks for posting this gem of true British comedy...... Sure didn't see that end coming.....the two conspiring to get rid of her...Genius!

They really should've put together a feature length version of something like this, it would've been gut busting, I know it, Ans judging by this very well received by all at the time and even now because they're both timeless in their comedy acting, absolutely brilliant, as this sketch is too. 🇬🇧-Comedy Gold Genius.

Ronnie Barker was asked, "How would you like to be remembered?" He said, "I would like to be remembered as a good funny comedian." PF. He was too modest. He (and Corbett) became two of the greatest comedians of all time! They played the female characters so well, Barker especially!

In America, *The Two Ronnies* is (or, if you insist, are) known mainly only to those of us who actually paid attention to what people like Pythons would say of their own influences, whom they admired, etc. I mean, most of us for example know of David Frost only as some pertinacious fellow who had the temerity to call Nixon a dirty crook (by implication) to his face on a nationally televised interview, not as a very funny guy in his own right once upon a different career path.
