This scenario makes sense, House is a pragmatic fellow, if he doesn't have the means to fully control the Mojave he'll just side with the faction most beneficial to him. I think if this were to happen, his plan of sending colony ships to space would eventually happen, just take a longer time. He'll slowly build up his assets within the NCR and continue along, its not ideal since he'll be under taxes, but it's better than death.

Imagine what he can accomplish in a year with a "get it of jail free" card in his pocket.

It's the best of both options: a tech genius to return humanity to prosperity, and a democracy to bring stability to the expansive wasteland and handle the tedium of day to day life. People are still debating what the "best" or most good ending is. Having an option where both of the "good" factions work together is an obvious choice. Instead, they forced us to make a difficult decision between two factions that both want to build a better future.

If this was an option, I think that some kind of high skill checks would have to be made in order to get it. It is basically a fusion of two endings, and could have major consequences. Having to get Mr. House get over his (rightful) anger and get a cooler head would take some work. Not as hard as Lanius' dialouge checks though. I'm thinking it could be separate Speech/Barter dialouge paths because those skills are the most likely to succeed in convincing him to join up in multiple different arguments. Barter for a more economically based argument, Speech for a more political controlling viewpoint. Maybe Science dialouge branch if you wanted to incorporate the OSI as a potential scientific resource that House couldn't get otherwise.

It needs a secondary element. Someone from the NCR putting pressure on House to fold who coordinates the destruction of the Securitrons with some sort of offered deal, or a big speech check to convince House, or both. Just destroying the securitrons might make sense from a purely practical perspective for House's character - he doesn't seem super "do or die" with his attempt at maintaing control over New Vegas, and is more of an opportunist - but the player can choose to destroy the Securitron army for either the Legion or the NCR, and if you do it for the Legion but it ends up benefiting the NCR it feels to the player like they made a "bad" choice. So in a gameplay player reactivity sense, that choice can't benefit the NCR if you're doing it for the Legion by itself. It would have to be paired with other choices which indicate the player is siding with the NCR specifically.

@@__Theta__ How would he push the NCR away from the dam and hold on to the Strip at the same time if the protectron army under Fortification Hill is destroyed? 1/3 of the house questline is just you powering and activating the army, without it he doesn't have enough protectrons to hold off NCR or the Legion. The whole idea of the cut ending is that he has to roll with the punches and make concessions to NCR after the protectron army is destroyed, which he likely would have being a pragmatic businessman.

Realistically without the courier the NCR wouldn't be able to hold New Vegas or even convince house to join up with them without Courier intervention. The Legion has a pretty strong chance just because of all the internal chaos they have at there disposal (khans omertas fiends powder gangers) all which have a sour history with the NCR. Sorry pal but without the Courier House would never side with the NCR unless forced.

Had the NCR questline forced the Courier to deal with the Brotherhood at the same time as House, that could've also been a deciding factor as to whether or not he joins the NCR. I have two ideas for how it'd play out, the latter assuming McNamara is still Elder: 1) House only joins the NCR if Hidden Valley is destroyed since he sees the Brotherhood as his greatest threat. 2) The Mojave Brotherhood agreeing to support the NCR convinces House to do the same. Since House's greatest threat is now allied with the nation that makes up the bulk of his business, he joins said nation to avoid becoming an enemy of it.

If he were to win he'd likely begin integrating Freeside, Westside and Outer Vegas as a whole into the Strip. I could see him renovating the area and turning New Vegas from just the strip to the entirety of modern day vegas. Considering that modern vegas has a population of over 641K (and the fact that Fallout's Las Vegas was probably bigger and more populous considering we're about 54 years away from 2077) it's safe to say that it would be enough for House's ambitions and if it isn't he has the rest of the Mojave to develop if needed.

House's control over the strip is itself pretty tenuous even before the NCR came along. honestly, as much as i'd like to discuss this the more i ponder this stuff the more i realize how kind of poorly or at least underwritten this whole affair is. there are no entrances to the strip beyond freeside or camp mcarran, we dont see how much power house actually has outside of a few guard robots and the fact that he owns like, one casino (empty) and a hotel.... and there is no sense of like, loyalty or even alignment with house by the powers or figures living in freeside either, making the idea of him expanding (outside of him straight up purging and bulldozing freeside with his robot army) very unrealistic.

I imagine Mr. House would become one of if not the biggest businessman in New World America. NCR would benefit greatly, but have someone who almost acts completely independent from the NCR. His advancements and high intelligence could make the NCR into an almost unstoppable force. I can even see one day where convoy's are guarded by some humans, but some high-end robots.

I really would have liked to see this option in the final game however I would have liked it to maybe be a side quest that you can take before the main quest. Where rather then destroying the bots you go on a quest to gather support for a meeting between house and the NCR where they convince him to become governor of Vegas in exchange he retains legal control but the NCR has taxation rights and can request support from the legion of bots. That way in the Hoover dam battle you can charge the dam with every faction against the legion at one time. I also would have liked to see an expansion of talks between the boomers and the NCR. As the NCR moved their direction and the increase in mobile warfare reaches their door. It would have been cool to be a negotiator in eventually being the boomers into the fold and turning them into the NCAF.

About the time he requires me to destroy the Brotherhood is when I usually jump ship. (That referencing another piece of cut content that would have increased Mr. House's longevity in my playthroughs)

It'd have been interesting if you could convince House and the Legion to spare the Brotherhood but only with Hardin as Elder. That'd make sense from a tactical standpoint since Hardin is far more inclined than McNamara to attack the NCR, and from a long-term view since he's even more of a traditionalist than McNamara and likely to drive his chapter to extinction.

Based on credits of TV show it could be possible that cut NCR and House alliance ending is cannon. House is very pragmatic, so it wouldn't be surprising if he was plotting to return power over strip to himself after some time. Destruction of Shady Sands and weakening of the NCR, would be a nice time to strike, hence what we see in the outro could be the result of fighting between House and NCR over Strip. Wouldn’t be the first time, where unobtainable ending was the canon one (referring to Followers of the Apocalypse good ending being canon in Fallout 1, despite being unobtainable).

Honestly this would've been the ending I went for and imagined of doing during my first play through. I loved Mr. House's ambitions

Maybe they were worried it would undermind the feeling of the player having to pick a side. They may not have gotten a chance to properly playtest what this outcome is like. Maybe instead the issue was figuring out how it effects the late game. That said, if they ever remake New Vegas, I'd be down for this coming back.

It's not, same as a ton of other things in the game. The 18 month contract was one of a couple options, more time WAS offered, but Obsidian didn't take it because the higher ups of the company are morons.

Would've been cool if they'd kept it in, but if it was only conditionally accessible (e.g. a very high Speech and/or Barter check, or completing certain side quests to convince House that he can't win) - if you haven't got your ducks in a row, you have to kill him to continue the NCR (or Independent) quest line.

Based on episode 8 credits of TV show (Spoilers ahead), I truly believe that this is canon ending. House is very pragmatic, so it wouldn't be surprising if he was plotting to return power over strip to himself after some time. Destruction of Shady Sands and weakening of the NCR, would be a nice time to strike, hence what we see in the outro could be the result of fighting between House and NCR over Strip. Wouldn’t be the first time, where unobtainable ending was the canon one (referring to Followers of the Apocalypse good ending being canon in Fallout 1, despite being unobtainable).

Every day you surprise me more friend Fallout new vegas had a lot of content removed I know that the creators put a lot of time and dedication into the game so that the experience is much broader it is a pity that all that content did not make it to the final product.

A better, more accurate ending for House would be to deal with the NCR, but only for his own personal gain. He would slowly coerce the NCR into doing whatever he desires, and get the taxes money himself in the name of "progress", to support his space plans. The NCR would turn into a muppet state, and House their Big Brother.

Considering Vegas will be a popular tourist spot for NCR most influential people, i'd say give him a decade and House might as well run for office. And when you take into account that there is no term limit, he could be immortal supreme leader.

I don't see House sullying his hands with presidency. He'd probably be more akin to Tamany Hall, a political machine running in the background. House himself would never participate in government, but every politician and interest group will be influenced by him.

The fun thing about cut content for Fallout 1 2 and New Vegas a lot of it was due to budget or time crunch there was some like the talking raccoons were cut because it was too silly but a lot of it was very interesting even still Black Isles and obsidian really did love this world

It should be added in a remake, it makes literally 0 sense that you would be forced to kill House in an NCR ending. If you can get the BOS to make peace, you should 100% be able to negotiate with House for peace.

People are saying this makes sense but I don't think it really does. House previous predicament doesn't change if you blow up his deactivated securitrons, it would be more likely he just runs the strip like beforeand scraps his pans to take over the Mojave for now.

Mr house mentions himself that if it wasn't for the war between the Legion and NCR. He would not be powerful enough to hold the strip. The NCR or The legion are much more powerful than his army but they can't spare the troops take the strip just yet as they are locked in stalemate

It does not make sense for many reasons.. One being the plot twist in this storyline where the NCR basically says "Yeah,he gave up..Now kill em." Which makes twisting his arm pointless. Which in order to get this out come you need to blow up his army in the bunker. So, It is less a alliance and more a "Shut up and take It" ordeal. Which considering House weighting his choice at that time would basically go "Yeah, I would rather die." Even then, With the NCR running everything and the deal laid out. Mr. House will be tax so hard he aint going to space or making progress on his plans. He is basically a glorified name to keep the 4 families in check and nothing more. He is basically sitting watching as vegas will be turned into what he feared above all things...A government hang out.

There’s a mod called New Vegas Truce Series by AVeryUncreativeUsername that can let you make mr house join the ncr but it needs Functional Post Game Ending by Kazopert to work properly even if the way doing it is different from the intended way to do it.

I can see this being probable simple because he’d lose his ace in the hole. House would have to fold, and temporarily submit to NCR rule. Although it wouldn’t surprise me if he’d scheme a way to become president, then a technocrat of the NCR

While it's clear that no faction grants stability and prosperity for everyone who wants it a semi-autonomous Strip in NCR territory (à la Macao) would definitely offer more of that in the short-term to the most people. As for the long-term it'd probably just push the ball down the road in regards to the NCR properly controlling the region, and the subsequent problems that would bring. Still, it'd be interesting to think about.

I would like a scenario where you can reprogram the securitron army for the NCR/legion and use it to decimate the other faction. With house’s plans foiled, he’s in a join or die scenario. With a high enough speech (really high), you can convince him to just accept it and bide his time.

Its disappointing that in the actual game the only ending where mr house isnt killed or left to rot in his basement is the one where you side with him, cut content like this puts to mind an interesting middle ground ending where house still gets to plot the rebirth of humanity while being beholden to the laws and occupation of the NCR

The contract says (summarized) * Vegas will be annexed in 1 year * House will be pardoned when Vegas is annexed Therefore, NCR has already agreed to let House do whatever he wants for the next year, and then pardon him. I don't think that was by accident. I wonder what his long term strategy is.
