Its already sad to know that all NYC Hudsons were scrapped. We are talking about one of the most famous and iconic streamlined locomotives ever, and nothing is left. Same with the Niagara class.

Quick note: that last one technically isn’t the flying Scotsman, it’s noticeable because of the darker green and the number 60103 instead of the real 4472 number, but it would still be sad if a FAMOUS ICON was trashed in a scrapyard.

ok so first of all the actual flying scotsman is still here you do realise that during ww2 the lner renumbered all of its engines so flying Scotsmans number went from 4472 to 103 and the in 1947 british railways took all of the big four railway’s including the one flying scotman worked on and br just slapped a 60 infront of the ex-lner engines numbers so thats how scotsman went from 4472 to 103 to 60103 and thats not even mentioning how sctosmans original number was 1472

also the paint thing can also be summed up to br being lazy and going dark green with all of its green engines cause you do realise engines can be repainted right

I wouldn't say they are all safe. Who could forget GTW 5629 being scrapped in 1987, and more recently the scrapping of Coos Bay Lumber #10 which got scrapped in Florida in 2011. In 2008, Frisco 1352 was at risk of being scrapped where it stood had the ASR not acquired the locomotive when they did. And perhaps one of the closest calls in recent times was when Southern 385 was nearly scrapped in 1999. When a man named Joseph Supor Sr. heard about the locomotives dire situation, he reportedly purchased the 385 just mere hours before the locomotive was to be scrapped where it stood.
