In Feb. 2015, Mr.Kitty uploaded “After Dark” to his KZbin channel with some cover art. In April 2019, a fan named Diana Sandra posted the song to KZbin with footage from “Career Opportunities,” a 1991 film with Jennifer Connelly, which in April 2022 had more than 55 million views. “I really appreciate the fan videos and making my music accessible to people that don’t really know what I do or anything like that,” Mr.Kitty said. “And then the ‘Career Opportunities’ one popped up, and I just remember watching it and I was like, this movie was really, really bad. I was like, this movie kind of sucks. But the way that Diana Sandra…edited it, made it good, I guess. And so it really got people interested.” “And then months later, it’s just like the views for that kept climbing. And I was like, ‘Oh, that’s interesting.’ But the thing is, yeah, they can’t monetize it. So all the views and all that goes to me.” In a funny twist, Mr.Kitty loves Jennifer Connelly and has several collectibles, including a photo book from “Labyrinth” - a movie she starred in from 1986 - and a record where Connelly is singing in Japanese.

As a movie I find Career Opportunities mediocre at best, but this video is....transcendent. Something about an average looking guy in a very nostalgic, universal American 90s space dancing along with this sort of angelic dream girl captures what it was like being a teenage guy and being in awe of how beautiful your crush was. It was a new and innocent kind of attraction when you were young. You've seen beautiful women since, but something about teenage romance is so pure. Looking back on it feels like a dream--it feels like this video.
@artofsam Жыл бұрын
The music creates a feeling of something that can be described as bitter sweet or 'nostalgic melancholia' which is really a condition of feeling great sadness or depression from having experienced true joy in the past but never quite being able to capture it again as it was a fleeting moment in life. The best way to think about it in my view is be grateful that you had a moment in life where you felt that joy at all because some people don't even get to have that.

I'm trying so hard not to get nostalgic on memories I never lived in! Gosh! Just bring back the good times before society crumble to none and technology took over our daily life basis! 😭❤

Definitely a J. Connelly fan. This music simply puts you in a slow, cool groove - you cant help but start a slow head bob in time with it. I'll rock this out in my headset riding my motorcycle at night down back roads in the dark.

80's ...amazing time. I remember target when it was like that. Going and buying a tape and trying out the stereo on the shelf. I would give anything to go back to those times. 2024 is total shit

The movie came out in '91 probably filmed in '90- but yeah this was the end of the 80s and I was only two years old barely when this movie came out and even I'm nostalgic for this era.

@@BattleBrotherCasten I was born in 1990 but like most millenials I grew up listening and watching 80' and early 90' movies/series and songs. I have nostalgia of a time i wasn't even born or can barely remember and while i dont hate our current times and technology i wish we could go back to those times at least a little.

@@attilabalaton981 Üdv! There are musical genres that aim to feel nostalgic and resemble the 80s or whatever. For example synthwave. Check out the artist The Midnight, for example.

Modern pop music is absolute garbage with extremely rare gems. Music has been in a golden age due to the internet and modern music production tools. If you scour the internet, for example KZbin, and invest enough time you will find that a colossal, incredible trove was created in the last two decades or so, that completely dwarfs in quality and quantity all the music humanity has created up to this point.

I was married for 25 years. When the pandemic hit she got sick, but then got better. I guess she realized she wasn't immortal and like movies there is an end. She left me for a guy more than half her age. Like just walked away leaving everything. I guess in an attempt to restart the movie. You see there are 2 movies running at the same time without the others knowledge? Two totally different perceptions of the same reality. She says she feels 18 again at the age of 45, feels nothing about leaving. And me...she hit the movie player so hard just by walking away that I'm stuck in an endless loop sometimes. This song takes me there, and I stay awhile and then leave. But I learned something important when I got caught in the loop. You have a cup of love and you share it deeply with another, always filling theirs cup back up. Giving and giving and never receiving, and one day you had enough and decide not to fill theirs anymore, you want some. But they don't know how to make any to fill their own cup. There is no love of self, so they leave, cup is dry they seek another to fill it. You stand there alone, time passes and your cup doesn't overflow like it should. You see you didn't love yourself either. Everything was for them, losing yourself IN them. So I learned that I have the power to keep generating Joy endlessly. Joy that fills your heart and your cup fills back up. And sometimes I stop and when the cup starts getting empty this song comes back to tell me not to stop. You see a healthy relationship should have each with cups overflowing. You never need to tip your cup for the other. Need some? Just hold yours under theirs to remind yourself. I realized we are just to focus on 3 things. Joy, Peace, Love. JOY that eternally overflows out of you, you share it with anyone without condition, this promotes PEACE within you and others, and in this action you show what is true LOVE. Looking for true love? Look no further....it comes out of you.

This is what most (real) gurus teach.. If you can't feel the eternal bliss within, & seek it in the outer, it will never be sustainable.. Feel it inside via meditation, focused breathwork etc. I've been through similar, feel for you.

Jennifer Connely in 80' is a godess, divine natural beauty! And in his 50 still so gorgeous and stunning, so elegant and classy. One of the most beautiful actress ever. Definitely with Ryan Gosling the best match for Mr Kitty song, make me go back to the 80s, miss the old times, everything was much more natural, more authentic, more human. No internet, no smartphones, no social media, simple human interaction, good times enjoying with friends, more polite and friendly people... we definitely have not gone forwards but backwards.
