I'm a bit older, graducated HS in 95, but I still agree. And I still have a landline. And no cell phone. You can't avoid technology totally, these days, I guess, but you can limit it. I have a laptop, and a tablet, and that's it. That's enough technology for me, and they give me enough headaches as it is. I use the tablet 99 percent of the time as an e-reader, to take out free Library books. Maybe 1 percent of the time, I use it for an app or something. It's basically just a way to read all the free books I want. I never take my tablet or laptop anywhere with me, as I have zero urge to be connected all the time. If I ever did need to take my tablet or laptop somewhere, occasionally, sure, that's fine, but I don't want to be joined at the hip with it, like some people are these days with their phones. Oh, wait, no, I have brought my tablet and laptop with me the odd time. And I'm fine with that. Using the free wifi at a cafe on my tablet, taking my laptop to a conference, etc, I'm fine with that, and it's handy, and there's upsides to technology. It's just that I try to use the upsides (all the free books I want!), and limit the downsides (no cell phone, refuse to text, am not available 24/7).
