Well Wall Disney was like this. He acted more wholesome but the passion was real. This kind of corporate calculation really started with Eisner. Many saw John Lassetter as the "New Walt" but then it turned out he was not a nice guy, between the allegations and the price control scheme between Hollywood studios. To be fair, Im sure Lassetter had passion, and Miyamoto and Co are human as well, though hopefully not doing terrible stuff like John.

It's been confirmed that Mario and Luigi are 25. Yet Bowser is probably a year older at 26 and Peach is probably 24. Yet given the fact that Bowser Junior is a child genius conpared to his father when he was Junior's age might make an interesting dynamic if Super Mario Junior Cousins are introduced.

Miyamoto confirmed that Mario is 25 a long time ago. (Even though the japanese version of Super Smash Bros. Melee says he's 26.) Since Mario and Luigi are twins, this would also make Luigi 25. The rest of the characters are just speculation. Peach seems to be in the same age group as Mario, maybe a little younger. I think 22 to 26 is mostly certain. Bowser seems to be older than Mario since he already was born and able to talk in Yoshi's Island. I'm guessing he would be 3 to 5 years old in that game.

Mario Mario woke up one day to see a letter in his father’s room, saying he was going to a life or death duel. His father never returned. The letter said that if he died to meet Green Toad. Mario gets revenge and goes on a killing spree. He kills an evil boss in the bar and shot by a mysterious woman. He wakes up in a chamber and is given a piranha plant by the mysterious woman with no explanation. Mario continues to travel and finds Green Toad, who inspects the demon statue but gets it stolen. Mario retrieves it to find Green Toad was killed. Mario continues and meets Lakitu who sends him to the jungle to find the second piranha plant statue. Mario comes face to face with his father who is evil and possessed. Mario frees him but the evil Bowser kills him. Mario kills Bowser but the legend of the piranha plant statues is found to be true as they reform energy after 700 years and become Petey Piranha. Mario kills Petey and the mysterious woman from before is found to be good and she and Mario escape the falling mountain where Petey Piranha was fought. Mario meets the woman and finds out that she is Princess Peach. They fall in love and Mario finds out that Lakitu was evil this whole time and this agent scheme was supposed to end up killing Mario. Mario and Peach get their happy ending.
