It's a good point about negative framing of Morj's videos, and ironically the content of his videos end up being pretty positive. Eg. Honestly, Morjs videos are so incredibly valuable. I highly recommend watching some of his analysis videos, like "Why Enies Lobby is peak One Piece". His analysis is crazy good and I couldn't believe how many layers of symbolysm this show has that I missed. Yes, being all positive and hype about One Piece is a lot of fun. But for me, it's infinitely more interesting to understand WHY One Piece works so well, why it makes you feel the way it does and what it actually is that Oda is trying to communicate through this massive story. And nobody has a better grip on it than Morj. He truly understands what makes One Piece great and isn't afraid to criticize decisions or turns in the story that are contrary to some of the show's essential themes. Like his video titled "If Luffy is Joboy reincarnated, we have a problem". The point he made in this video evolved primarily around the idea of destiny on the one hand, and free will on the other hand in One Piece and how a simple "Joyboy reincarnation Luffy" would go against many things that Oda has built around the ideas of destiny and free will, at the same time explaining these concepts on an analytical level. Morj isn't just showing you that One Piece is great, he is explaining WHY it's so great and it made me appreciate it a thousand times more. It honestly changed my whole perspective on storytelling. Thank you Morj!

Sometimes the title looks negative but the content really isn't. Also, sometimes it's not even about whether he could be write or wrong in what he's arguing. No much positivity there, he slammed Wano by saying that everyone who praised the current saga was praising an arc with no story, no narrative and no stakes. @@DarkChaos1986 I’m familiar with that rant. It was pretty toxic, there’s no denying that. I think that stemmed from him seeing people who he saw trash the Tobi Roppo fights when they happened now say they never had a problem with them, and he got carried away after that and started making generalizations. My take away is that Wano has not delivered on what he appreciates the most about the series, but even recently he praised Gear 5 and the chapter preceding it highly. He even gave them positive titles instead of negative clickbait ones. I feel like Ohara’s new style is distracting to his content, which has become a bit shallow. I miss his character analysis which actually stuck with me. I still remember how the video on Luffy taught me about leadership, for example. Now his style is so out there that nothing he says lands for me as it feels like if he were some celebrity totally disconnected by high production, high on crazy theories. All that being said, I’m happy that he’s doing so well and he does at least look very excited on his videos, so that’s great. Now I like hanging out on Morj streams seeing him having genuine fun. With less time on production, he feels more natural and that’s what speaks to me most. I hope for the best for both these creators!!

Ohara’s content feels like the Michael Bay of One Piece youtube content while Morj is more in line with the Kubricks and Tarantinos. Not a perfect parallel but the box office numbers show a similar story to their KZbin views. The majority of people simply prefer to watch content that is easier to digest.

That said rotating between Tekkings fun ramblings, KOLs wacky what if theories, Morjs analysis on specifics of a conclusion based on logical reasoning, Joyboy theories rambling but giving some decent points about future scenarios, it's just a fun place. That makes a lot of sense, I am a bigger fan of Morj than Ohara but now it makes sense why Ohara run away with subscribers while Morj is still having hard time increasing new subscribers. I myself being bigger fan of Morj decided to not watch his Yamato video because I am biased toward Yamato joining so that negative title push me away. And now it makes sense as his subscribers jumped when his video titles were praising One Piece and now with negative titles even the content is positive it’s not increasing.

I love Morj's analysis and commentary on past events -- his video on Sanji and Zoro was one of the best One Piece videos I've watched -- but ultimately drifted away from his videos because i got tired of his commentary on the current stories and predictions of the future. Still banging the drum for the raid failing after the one-on-one fights started was just a fool's errand, and he just had a really negative take on current events in the story, really seeming to dislike the parts of the new chapters that I loved. Also, his chapter reviews are him just...talking to the camera? I don't need the level of effort put into visuals that Ohara apparently does, but give me SOMETHING buddy

I have always preferred Morj's content. His theories are based on well researched thematic analysis. Though they are speculative, they are deeply based on what the story is about. Personally, that's what I prefer. Which is why most of his predictions about Wano have come true. . I love to know how much thought Oda pit into his character's arcs and themes more than knowing what a monkey is pointing at in a color spread. I really hope Morj ignores your advice and sticks to what he's doing 😂😂😂😂. Very few people treat one piece as a masterfully crafted piece of literature as much as him. O'Hara's theories are very cringey, and as such I'm not subscribed to his channel. .

Ah yes his theories coming true, like the raid failing? All jokes aside the dude does a decent job finding story themes and displaying them as well as makes some interesting theories but I also find that he digs a little too much into his own headcanon, like personally I found his "why Yamamoto won't join the stawhats video" to be mediocre at best because it honestly felt like he himself didn't like the idea of her joining so he reached till he found a tenous theme that oda likely didn't even think about and sounds fairly headcanon esque to justify his views not saying it was bad but imo it was a stretch at best

Sweet lil pup. That was a raw look at the KZbin world. Well done.
@ayush8852 жыл бұрын
I think Morj sticking to "the raid will fail" is the major reason. People are already tired of wano, they just want Zoro's backstory, a few chapters to transition, and the beginning of a new arc. No one wants the raid to fail, and then for luffy to spend the next 15 chapters fighting Kaido again.
@TPShanks2 жыл бұрын
that is the problem with the raid failing theory. people only hate it because they want wano to be over. it is a good theory that most people don't even want to give a chance because they are done with wano EVEN THOUGH wano is only getting better with every chapter.
@ayush8852 жыл бұрын
@@TPShanks wano started in July 2018, of course people are tired.
@TPShanks2 жыл бұрын
@@ayush885 sure but its just a horrible way to dismiss a theory. people were so hyped for 1044 so there is always protentional for wano to make you more hyped than you have been for any other arc.
@donrog50352 жыл бұрын
@@TPShanks It was a good theory 3 years ago I give you that but right now , with all it happened (Tobiroppo defeated, All Star defeated, Big Mom defeated, CP0 defeated, Castle destroyed, gear 5, Kaido being tired and on his last legs, onigashima is falling). Anyway there are so many red flag that tell us the raid is ending very soon. You can't make this up. I read so many shonens to know that it's the endgame of the arc. It's just delusional to think the raid will fail. In one way or another the raid will end in the next couple of chapters. 1050 is my bet for the definitive end of the raid.
@ayush8852 жыл бұрын
@@TPShanks it is a horrible way, I agree. But people use KZbin to feel good, why would they watch a theory they don't feel good about? When Morj first said the Raid will fail, it was probably at the start of the raid. People were expecting wano to be over in 50 chapters, maybe by the mid of 2022, so people thought, the raid will fail, and Luffy will come back and win in the next 50 chapters. At this moment, everyone knows, there are more than 20 chapters left even if we ignore the fight between Luffy and Kaido. No one has the patience to wait for the end of 2023 just for wano to end.

@Balakrishnan19952 жыл бұрын
I think it is very important to see where the manga story is at rn. Like you rightly said rooting for the negativity used to get clicks. Now the story is in a positive space for most of the characters and it looks like the longest arc is almost over. So people are expecting a positive turn of events for the main characters and the headspace of readers are in a positive space. And since the arc is so long , it has had its ups and downs. The content drawing more views is also dependent on that. The meta of the views might be dependent on the vibe of the story. Like you said what works today may not work tomorrow.
@itioticginger95202 жыл бұрын
To go against the whole negativity thing with Morj. I can't remember who but some youtuber was talking about the ways to succeed on the platform, and the 2 main methods is to do something better than everyone else who is doing it, or to do something no one else is doing. I feel that Ohara and Morj are taking each side of that. No one else is taking this negative failing idea, and that's how Morj stands out. Channels freaking out and praising what's going on are a dime a dozen, and they have to stand out with their character and production, while Morj stands out for the uniqueness of his content. TLDR: Ohara is successful because he is arguably the best at what he does, whereas Morj is successful due to no one making the same content as him.
@Dudeinaroomwastaken2 жыл бұрын
Yeah but nothing is fixed. I'm a champion of product differentiation in the early stages. You need something to stand apart. However, imo, you also need to know when to make a change. I'm not saying you need to go full hype, but if a strategy is stagnating then it might be worth exploring other avenues.

I honestly have known the both of then since when Ohara used a masked fox as avatar and Morj had just revealed his face. It's also good to mention that Ohara also makes analysis videos on other anime as well. I personally found Ohara's channel from the video he did on Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen and that's before I got into One Piece. Even though Ohara is mainly focused on One Piece content, making content about other anime is a good way to branch out and find new viewers on youtube. I bet a lot of his new subscribers aren't all One Piece fans and it probably helped is growth. Mr Morj obviously makes great content and has fantastic ideas about One Piece, but hasn't really made content outside One Piece and that's completely fine since he it shows his devotion to One Piece as well as his viewers devoted to his content.
