He was the exact opposite when he started, he was extremely chill and very much like Morj. I don't have any preferences tbh for which style and I do watch both of them, but the negativity of Morj really hurting his views. Also Manu's new style is definitely more eye catchy and I also think it's more sustainable. There is only a finite amount of time to do an analytical video and being successful each time, but doing a hype video that can appeal to the millions? I think that is far "easier".

It's a good point about negative framing of Morj's videos, and ironically the content of his videos end up being pretty positive. Eg. "This is why X is not going to happen, but instead Y will happen which is much better and more interesting because themes, story structure etc." I wonder if by framing his thumbnails/titles more positively he could get away with not changing his content at all and still managing to grow his channel

Honestly, Morjs videos are so incredibly valuable. I highly recommend watching some of his analysis videos, like "Why Enies Lobby is peak One Piece". His analysis is crazy good and I couldn't believe how many layers of symbolysm this show has that I missed. Yes, being all positive and hype about One Piece is a lot of fun. But for me, it's infinitely more interesting to understand WHY One Piece works so well, why it makes you feel the way it does and what it actually is that Oda is trying to communicate through this massive story. And nobody has a better grip on it than Morj. He truly understands what makes One Piece great and isn't afraid to criticize decisions or turns in the story that are contrary to some of the show's essential themes. Like his video titled "If Luffy is Joboy reincarnated, we have a problem". The point he made in this video evolved primarily around the idea of destiny on the one hand, and free will on the other hand in One Piece and how a simple "Joyboy reincarnation Luffy" would go against many things that Oda has built around the ideas of destiny and free will, at the same time explaining these concepts on an analytical level. Morj isn't just showing you that One Piece is great, he is explaining WHY it's so great and it made me appreciate it a thousand times more. It honestly changed my whole perspective on storytelling. Thank you Morj!

Morj is the sole reason I started following OP youtubers, because I wanted to find out other perspectives on One Piece's writing. I started finding a pattern on One Piece fights so I googled if there was someone who analyzed them and found his One Piece Fight analysis video. It was mindblowing how many things that Oda was putting a lot of thought on was just going past the readers. So I started watching more of his videos and then branched out. Unfortunately, there really wasn't a lot of other channels that had a good grip of One Piece's writing. I still followed them since I enjoyed them, but I always find myself going back to Morj to get his opinion on the story. Also,

I appreciate Morj not treating his audience like children who need entertainment. I understand the appeal of lightning pace "hype" videos, but it just feels ancillary to reaction content for me. I'm more interested in thoughtful analysis and discussion from someone who is familiar with both literature as a whole and One Piece specifically. Hopefully Morj doesn't change his content to appeal to a more general audience - I already like One Piece enough to listen to someone discuss its theme and structure, even critically. I don't need to be sold on it every week.

The part about Morj articulating how we feel is a great point. Listening to someone talk about WHY I enjoyed it while pointing out things I never thought about, is why I click on a Morj video the minute it comes out. I know I’m getting high quality analysis and even if his title is negative and contrarian in nature, I know Morj is going to make persuasive arguments that’ll have me agreeing with him.

Sometimes the title looks negative but the content really isn't. Also, sometimes it's not even about whether he could be write or wrong in what he's arguing. It's how he argues and articulates his ideas that are amazing. I pointed this out during his recent Yamato will not join the SH video that even if Yamato does end up joining, you can never deny that Morj's research and pattern identification of the series is next to no one.

Oharas videos are more future proofed, you kind of missed the point. Morj gets stuff wrong because his ability to predict the future isnt infallible, and as a result his content dies on the vine. Yes, completely agree. It's fine to have videos that mainly appeal to a niche audience because then those audiences are getting exactly what they like. Not everything needs to cater to a large audience because then you can get softer analysis or more clickbait titles and themes, or whatever else draws in more views. Also, when someone has serious grips with the story they are making content from, it shows, Morj publicly slammed the Wano arc for having "no story" in a famous twitter rant, his "negativity" drips from that overview because the story is not walking the path he prefers. This overview corrupts every analysis because deep down he's incredibly dissapointed with the content he's reviewing.

Morj seriously is the best out there, while I'm honestly dissapointed with Oharas clickbait videos with nonsensical theories that twist facts in order to suit it's own narrative eg. "Isn't Enies Lobby a crazy name? Enies means LITERALLY NOTHING SO LETS ADD A D IN FRONT OF IT AND NOW ITS NAME IS DENIES LOBBY AND WHOOAA." while "Enies" literally means ship in Greek 💀💀💀 Used to be a fan of them both but now I can't watch Ohara without thinking that everything he says is only for views. While Morj keeps his integrity and stands with his Raid Fail theory because he honestly believes it's the best route the story could take. He gets ridiculed regularly for it but he doesn't care. That honesty in his videos and his level of analysis is what gives him his loyal fans.

The "collaborative alliance effect" also contributed to Joygirl's exponential growth since your and Ohara's followers were exposed to her. Furthermore, as you pointed out in your BDA Law video, hype content definitely capitalizes on views but tends to die out fairly quickly. I understand why he stopped, but I found that those were the videos from him I enjoyed most and I watched him less and less when they were gone. I still watch Morj regularly and think his content is superior, but I understand why the OP community would want to gravitate more towards celebrating the series rather than putting it under a critical lense. Yet even though Morj is critical, he still spreads love for the series in his own way.

Did you read the famous twitter rant of Mr. Morj? No much positivity there, he slammed Wano by saying that everyone who praised the current saga was praising an arc with no story, no narrative and no stakes. Sincerely, it seems to me that the negativity that comes from his recent titles are coming from his inner dissapointing thoughs about Wano and the path that Oda choose to tell his story. And he's not telling all his thoughs maybe because fear of a harsher backslash.
@thehakiguy7006
@thehakiguy7006 2 жыл бұрын
@@DarkChaos1986 I’m familiar with that rant. It was pretty toxic, there’s no denying that. I think that stemmed from him seeing people who he saw trash the Tobi Roppo fights when they happened now say they never had a problem with them, and he got carried away after that and started making generalizations. My take away is that Wano has not delivered on what he appreciates the most about the series, but even recently he praised Gear 5 and the chapter preceding it highly. He even gave them positive titles instead of negative clickbait ones. I think he just wants more of the dread and hopelessness we got in 1043, because for him that would make the final victory that much better.

I still remember how the video on Luffy taught me about leadership, for example. Now his style is so out there that nothing he says lands for me as it feels like if he were some celebrity totally disconnected by high production, high on crazy theories. All that being said, I’m happy that he’s doing so well and he does at least look very excited on his videos, so that’s great. Now I like hanging out on Morj streams seeing him having genuine fun. I love Morj's analysis and commentary on past events -- his video on Sanji and Zoro was one of the best One Piece videos I've watched -- but ultimately drifted away from his videos because i got tired of his commentary on the current stories and predictions of the future. Still banging the drum for the raid failing after the one-on-one fights started was just a fool's errand, and he just had a really negative take on current events in the story, really seeming to dislike the parts of the new chapters that I loved. Also, his chapter reviews are him just...talking to the camera? I don't need the level of effort put into visuals that Ohara apparently does, but give me SOMETHING buddy

I have always preferred Morj's content. His theories are based on well researched thematic analysis. Though they are speculative, they are deeply based on what the story is about. Personally, that's what I prefer. Which is why most of his predictions about Wano have come true. . I love to know how much thought Oda pit into his character's arcs and themes more than knowing what a monkey is pointing at in a color spread. I really hope Morj ignores your advice and sticks to what he's doing 😂😂😂😂. Very few people treat one piece as a masterfully crafted piece of literature as much as him. O'Hara's theories are very cringey, and as such I'm not subscribed to his channel. .

I think Morj sticking to "the raid will fail" is the major reason. People are already tired of wano, they just want Zoro's backstory, a few chapters to transition, and the beginning of a new arc. No one wants the raid to fail, and then for luffy to spend the next 15 chapters fighting Kaido again.
@TPShanks

that is the problem with the raid failing theory. people only hate it because they want wano to be over. it is a good theory that most people don't even want to give a chance because they are done with wano EVEN THOUGH wano is only getting better with every chapter.

Anyway there are so many red flag that tell us the raid is ending very soon. You can't make this up. I read so many shonens to know that it's the endgame of the arc. It's just delusional to think the raid will fail. In one way or another the raid will end in the next couple of chapters. 1050 is my bet for the definitive end of the raid.
@ayush885
@ayush885 2 жыл бұрын
@@TPShanks it is a horrible way, I agree. But people use KZbin to feel good, why would they watch a theory they don't feel good about? When Morj first said the Raid will fail, it was probably at the start of the raid. People were expecting wano to be over in 50 chapters, maybe by the mid of 2022, so people thought, the raid will fail, and Luffy will come back and win in the next 50 chapters. At this moment, everyone knows, there are more than 20 chapters left even if we ignore the fight between Luffy and Kaido. No one has the patience to wait for the end of 2023 just for wano to end.

I think it is very important to see where the manga story is at rn. Like you rightly said rooting for the negativity used to get clicks. Now the story is in a positive space for most of the characters and it looks like the longest arc is almost over. So people are expecting a positive turn of events for the main characters and the headspace of readers are in a positive space. And since the arc is so long , it has had its ups and downs. The content drawing more views is also dependent on that. The meta of the views might be dependent on the vibe of the story. Like you said what works today may not work tomorrow.

To go against the whole negativity thing with Morj. I can't remember who but some youtuber was talking about the ways to succeed on the platform, and the 2 main methods is to do something better than everyone else who is doing it, or to do something no one else is doing. I feel that Ohara and Morj are taking each side of that. No one else is taking this negative failing idea, and that's how Morj stands out. Channels freaking out and praising what's going on are a dime a dozen, and they have to stand out with their character and production, while Morj stands out for the uniqueness of his content. TLDR: Ohara is successful because he is arguably the best at what he does, whereas Morj is successful due to no one making the same content as him.

I personally found Ohara's channel from the video he did on Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen and that's before I got into One Piece. Even though Ohara is mainly focused on One Piece content, making content about other anime is a good way to branch out and find new viewers on youtube. I bet a lot of his new subscribers aren't all One Piece fans and it probably helped is growth. Mr Morj obviously makes great content and has fantastic ideas about One Piece, but hasn't really made content outside One Piece and that's completely fine since he it shows his devotion to One Piece as well as his viewers devoted to his content.
