I've played a lot of games, but Ragnarok Online gives me that feeling like I'm home. It's not like other games like thing became hectic, stressful, boring. This brings so many memories.

Same here. Played it .. must been .. Quite a few days/month after the alpha. So i got through open and closed beta in old eu/iRO i guess. Than played it a lot und from time to time again for a few months (free and abo models). But never "good" or end/late game .. i think "best" was my Assassin strolling through the Toy Factory, killing "low lvl" mobs.

Oh, just looked at some screenshots from 2009 - looks like I had a Gunslinger lv 58, the same lvl just like the Assassin (must been 2004/2005).

@@mwss3507 don't know if a "new" version of the old game would be that good. but i would like to see some kind of thirdperson-, firstperson-, or free-camera version with "hd-textures" and more detailed sprites (maybe "comic-look") and effects. but with the mechanics left untouched. on a base like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGPMd3-Kl8mSfNU&ab_channel=TheDoddler this should be possible.

I'm turning 40 this year. This was the first MMO I ever played, and really the last one where I had multiple friends playing at the time and actually meeting up to party to tackle dungeons. Soundtrack is amazing, the game proved sprites are still great character design, and it was a frustrating, wonderful grind. Used to leave my merchant up in Prontera while I went to class in college. 4:3 monitor. KZbin didn't yet exist. Facebook had just approved our school to be added. MySpace was in its prime. I didn't even have a laptop, and I bought my first cell phone my sophomore year. These are all things I tell my nieces and nephews that make me sound like a damn dinosaur.

Hello Mr. Poring. Ragnarok Online was such an awesome game. I feel till this day, with all the MMO and MMORPGs out there. Ragnarok Online always had the best in game music still. That and when first playing this game, this game felt like such an adventure, when it was during beta and full released long ago in 2003 and 2004. It was really fun just randomly teaming up with random people you would see in game. Now a days mmorpgs dont really feel like that and random people dont just talk or team up with you anymore, like how they did in Ragnarok Online.

I agree. People have changed, games haven’t. I tried to get back into it again when I found a server to play on but I didn’t have anyone to play with so I approached some people like how I used to in order to party for xp and got the cold shoulder each time. My irl friend plays BDO with a great guild and has been trying to get me to play (my computer cannot handle the graphics lol) but even on that game people just don’t engage the way they used to online. There was a sort of innocence and optimism we used to have (which was actually not super safe in hindsight lol) and we brought it with us when we played. And it’s not just childhood innocence because even our younger generation now seems pretty nihilistic. Most of my friends are too tired from their jobs or don’t care to play mmos anymore or if they do, they don’t like the graphics of RO. As soon as we got out of school, my friends and I would run home to get on RO and hang out at Payon or wherever. We used to put on our best gear and take screen shots together and just chill out and talk about school and other things in party chat, or collect drops for angel wings. Sometimes my best friend and I would get together and call one of our guild mates from across the country on speaker phone. we’d take turns playing and holding the phone for eachother. It was such a wonderful, peaceful and adventurous little game that I wish I could just boot up again and do a WOE with my childhood friends and pretend like we never lost touch or had a falling out, grew up and learned the harsh lessons of life. I am actually still friends with one of the people I met on the game back then and it’s crazy to see them married with kids. I don’t think it will ever be like it was even if they were to bring it back and people played again. It’s just something for us to hold in our hearts and remember it as it was.

It's one of those games you remember playing a long time ago. But to me it's also a game I won't be replaying again. I lost my account after 1 year of finally reaching level 70. That time and effort all lost in a single moment. (I don't have much money back so I can only play like 1 to 2 hours a week. If lucky 3-5 hours a week. It depended if I saved up my allowance.) Still I miss the times I finally reached the Assassin Class, and somehow got to reach that resort town on the bottom left of the map via someone else's warp. Best surprise I got. LOL! Just listening to the OSTs is enough for me. There are more games out there and it's time to experience them as well.

36 years old and this game has left such an impression on me. The BGM always hits so damn hard. The game (pre-renewal) is absolutely fantastic. I truly hope Gravity decides to remake this game (pre-renewal) in HD graphics without losing the RO theme. Not like what they did with RO 2, which failed twice.
