...The fertile farmlands of central Cyrodiil, around Lake Rumare and the Nibenay Valley, the region commonly known as "The Heartland," is temperate in climate, supporting the crops and livestock that feed all of central Tamriel. Rain and thunderstorms are frequent, but the region is free from the sandstorms of Hammerfell to the west or the monsoons of Black Marsh to the southeast...
...Much has been made of the classical author Heimskr's characterization of Cyrodiil as a jungle or rainforest. My studies indicate that the use of the phrase "endless jungle" to describe Cyrodiil appears to be an error in transcription. Close study of the original, badly faded manuscript reveals that the phrase was miscopied, and should be more accurately rendered as "extensive uplands." The adjectives "an equatorial rain" as applied to the Nibenese forest do not appear in the original manuscript at all, and I would posit were added by the scribe in support of his previous erroneous use of "jungle." Lady Cinnabar of Taneth, of course, takes issue with this exegesis, but the flaws in her methods of scholarship have been well-documented elsewhere...
- Excerpts from the book “The Heartland of Cyrodiil” by Phrastus of Elinhir
...According to "The Heartland of Cyrodiil," by that old fraud Phrastus of Elinhir, the Nibenese valley and the Colovian hills have always enjoyed the temperate climate they have today, and early references to Cyrodiil as a subtropical jungle were merely errors on the part of one of the Heimskrs. Really? What, then, of the "waving fronds" of Vahtacen mentioned in the Hosiric Lays? What of Khosey's "dense-jungl'd shore of Rumare" in the Tamrilean Tractates? Are these, as well, the mistakes of errant copyists? No, I think it more likely that three millennia ago Cyrodiil's climate was warmer and wetter than it is today. The environment of the Heartland has changed. Which begs the question: how?...
...And that, I believe, is the answer to how the Heartland changed from subtropical to temperate: because once Men ruled in Cyrodiil, the local reality changed to meet their needs and wishes. Changed slowly, perhaps, almost imperceptibly, but inexorably-until Cyrodiil became the realm of temperate forests and fields we now know…

The Oblivion OST is probably my favorite album of music ever composed. It's absolutely blissful. There is also much nostalgia and enchantment woven into the soundtrack. Every piece has its own unique signature or flavor to it. I like to use this soundtrack to sleep or relax and I consider it Jeremy Soule's magnum opus.

Morrowind has that alien setting and magic. It makes you feel that you're on a completely different planet, on a different setting, on a different supercluster of galaxies. Just looking at the night sky gives the idea. So many stars... Oblivion has that strange beauty in it can't point it out. It's like fantasy world but it still feels like you're on Earth (not Nirn). But everything has such a charm in it. It makes you feel ambitious when you think about it. The artstyle, the book handwriting style, the armors the dialogues the NPCs. Everything just makes it so visually (and audibly) charming. Skyrim, despite being the newest edition among the 3, kinda feels like it's old. There's so much visible tension that you can feel. The grey filter, wooden houses, every city preparing for war. It does become pretty and it also has Secunda (soundtrack), but that tension always comes back. Not saying the previous games were jolly rides, but you can feel Skyrim is giving that old and serious vibe. All the bearded men and wrinkled woman around. Even the bodies sported body hairs and dirt on them. It again gives that old vibe. But all the games are beautiful and horrifying in their own way i guess. I find Morrowind the most entertaining tho. It's also my first TES game so probably that's why.

This released about a week before my 16th bday. My girlfriend at the time, now wife, bought me this and we skipped school together while playing this. She would lay on my futon behind me while I roamed Cyrodiil. My first true RPG. Still the best.

Oblivion is so underrated, but it will for sure go down in history as one of the best games ever. Also, Auriel's Ascension has always been my favorite song from the game

Reminds me of whenever I reach the end of a playthrough. I sit atop Dive Rock and look out at Cyrodiil, admiring everything I'd done. The Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild, Leader of the Fighters Guild, The Gray Fox of the Thieves Guild, the Grand Champion of the Arena, and the greatest achievement of them all: Mantling the Mad God himself, Sheogorath. I hope my character is doing well, wherever he may be.

My DM plays this music while we are in towns or in the wilderness in Dungeons and Dragons. It’s so atmospheric 😊
