At 2:25, that CAN'T be really on a 2600. It simply didn't have pixels that small.

It's the VCS version. The first level is the 2600 version

@@DadIsaJokeRetroRockinGamer Oh, the MODERN system. I didn't even know that ever came out. Also awful name, the original 2600 was called the VCS - Video Computer System. That makes it confusing.

No it is really not on the 2600. It is the PS4, PS5, Steam or another version. Because there is a modern version of Mister Run and Jump, but the first level is similar to the Atari 2600 level. And on the modern console or PC version of the game, you are "breaking out" of the Atari graphics at 2:25 and entering a modern graphic environment. There is also another point to see, that this video is not the Atari 2600 version: On the Atari 2600 version with the cartridge that really works on old Atari 2600 and on the remake console, on several screens the sprites are flickering due to sprite multiplexing.

I guess this is the beginning of the VCS game and we will have a portion of this in the 2600 game? I preordered the cart so I’m curious.

It's great to see a speedrunning platformer for the 2600; a genre that's under-represented on the console. I hope this does well for ATARI XP. As someone that will support ATARI XP, Should ATARI consider going the extra-mile with 2600 games for ATARI XP Releases? Yars' Return ATARI XP featured many enhancements, and is another great example of the level of effort that should be a minimum standard of any new/remastered 2600 game from ATARI XP. Yars' Returns features a new title-screen, improved graphics, and is bug-free for the ATARI XP release. Many gamers are put-off 2600 games (and ATARI legacy games in general) because of the lack of music. If new (and remastered) 2600 games featured in-game music, it would change the perception of the 2600 console across the gaming scene. 2600 games can feature N.E.S quailty in-game sound, using a d.s.p similar to the chip used in Pitfall. Check-out Fragmare's chip-tune covers' of classic 8-bit games for a preview into what is possible. I think Mr Run And Jump would have been even better had it included a quality chip-tune soundtrack. Memory (rom) sizes shouldn't be an issue either, nor the use of co-processors. Many classic ATARI 2600 games could be remastered with additional presentational content. A new title screen and selectable options menu. Yars' Revenge could be enhanced by recreating the comic's artwork in graphics (high-quality of course), and using it as an intro, and throughout the game (every five-levels'), finishing with an ending/cliff-hanger. In-game music could be added to boost the overall presentation, adding tension and excitement to the gameplay and progressing the story-line/progression in-game, with the original gameplay left intact. 1-, and 2-button-control-schemes', with fire and cannon having a seperate button. I think this is an example of the quality ATARI can produce from the 2600 for ATARI XP in-terms of releasing classic ATARI 2600 I.P. Do 2600 games have to use only one-button? The 2600 is compatible with the 7800 controllers, and there are many solutions that allow for 6-button configurations using Genesis, ans S.N.E.S controllers'. Many 2600 games were hampered by the single fire-button, and two-button controls allow for more complex games to be created. Kung-Fu Master would have been great on the 2600 had it used a two-button control scheme. If ATARI wants to create new nostalgia for the 2600, then I think that there should be a level of presentation and content that exceeds what is expected of a 2600 game, and more in-line with what is being produced by Atari Age, and other independent legacy ATARI developers. The reason N.E.S games were so successful was influenced by the amount of effort put into the presentation of games, as a standard for release. The 7800 library could also be remastered, using new Pokey/Hokey soundtracks, improved graphics, and even new content. I'm glad that Atari Age has now partnered with ATARI. This will bring the very best ATARI legacy games to the system. Excellent stuff from ATARI XP, and hopefully we'll see much more from them from the 7800 and Jaguar in the future too.

@@DadIsaJokeRetroRockinGamer "In 1994 at the CES, Atari announced that it had partnered with Phylon, Inc. to create the Jaguar Voice/Data Communicator. The unit was delayed and an estimated 100 units were produced, but eventually in 1995 was canceled. The Jaguar Voice Modem or JVM utilizes a 19.9 kbit/s dial up modem to answer incoming phone calls and store up to 18 phone numbers. Players directly dial each other for online play, only compatible with Ultra Vortek which initializes the modem by entering 911 on the key pad at startup".

The first level is easy. On the original Atari 2600 version (new cartridge) it will be much harder in level 3 (and I didn't reach level 4 or 5 yet.) The new version on PS4/PS5/PC etc. I only played a little bit yet, I like more the 2600 version :-)
