If you don't burp the gauges and hoses, later on when it's in your truck on a hot summer day the hoses will burst and possibly damage the gauges.

I’ve never went to school for hvac. Got a job doing it 6 years ago and learned more than what they teach you in school.

You are definitely correct, I worked in the field before and during schooling and I feel I learned more in the field than in school. Although in school they will/might show/teach you key fundamentals, safety and tricks you may not learn in the field. Good on you for learning the trade though and good luck 👍
