True, but it shouldn’t be that way. Defendants time is worth something. I had a charge that I was going to court for every 2 weeks because they kept ordering a continuance. I’d show up every time, on time, sit there for 6+ hours until a public defender finally pulled me into a room and told me that they were continuing my case. I did that for about 6 months. Finally my case was dismissed. I was innocent of the charge and I knew it would be dismissed or I’d be found not guilty, but I lost so much money due to having to take so many days off from work. It was ridiculous. So many people go to court, are found guilty and then ordered to pay fines and costs amongst other things, and the amount of money they lose due to having to miss work should be credited to them. In my case, they should have had to pay me for wasting my time and costing me money on a bogus charge.

Social Security has what's called the Ticket to Work program that its entire purpose is to provide resources for the disabled and receiving SSI and Social Security benefits. There are employers that even hire the disabled with full knowledge how the TTW works so as to not affect the recipient. Mr Coleman can work or stop if his disability impedes him.
