MR Yian Garuga Vs. Hunting Horn - Monster Hunter World: Iceborne - イャンガルルガ 笛 ソロ【MHWI】

It was an absolute pain trying to record hunting this thing in the Ancient Forest but I think this run is pretty good in the end.
Yian Garuga got a very nice glow-up in Iceborne, probably one of my favorite. It pretty much is exactly the same fight a old-gen Garuga, but it is faster and has a couple more patterns and a few new moves.
This monster has always been an amazing concept to me.
I think a lot of people will agree that taking one of the best beginner monster fights, Yian Kut-Ku, and giving it a completely unrelated monster (that isn't a variant nor a subscpecies) that looks like it except completely crooked and with a wolf/witch theme is genius.
So it's about time there was an actual Hunting Horn run on this channel, with one of my favorite iterations of the weapon nonetheless. My favorite thing about Hunting Horn was always how amazing its moveset was diversified in how each move allows you to hit a monster from a precise angle.
The forward slam is the basic forward attack, the X slap allows you to hit monsters from the left, the B slap allows you to attack monsters from the right, the backswing allows you to snipe high heads, the superpound is an idle strong attack, etc. Same goes for each encore attack, which have never been better than in World and Iceborne in my opinion, with the Valor Encore from GU being a close second.
I love this weapon, but it's a shame I could just not like it in Sunbreak.

I gotta agree about Garuga. I love that Kut-ku is a symbol of luck and Garuga is kind of his opposite, without it being too edgy. He's just a raven boy with a bad rap while his blue jay cousin gets away with being cute. I used to hate him a lot, but in Generations I ended up grinding him for a while and somewhere in that mess I ended up loving him. And I miss Deadeye every day!!!!! His fight was really fun and I loved his set so much. World hunting horn is always a delight to see played well; I really feel Rise's overhaul of the weapon went way too far and missed what makes the weapon special. Great show! Insane to me that you chose to fight him in the Ancient Forest in one of my least favourite arenas and made it look so easy, biggest props.

Your description are exactly my feelings for the hunting horn i wanted so hard to like it in Rise but it miss those heavy iceborne hit too much. I'm no expert but that's the weapon that forced me to learn to stop going unga bunga and actually watch the monster and position correctly.

I couldn't agree more with what you said in your video description. Yian Garuga is my favorite monster (voted for him in Capcom's favorite monster poll recently) and, like you, this was my favorite version of the Hunting Horn. After a few years now, I just started a new game in World and am really enjoying discovering it all over again. Nice run!

When I saw this goddamn rat beefing with a *Deviljho* in its opening cutscene, I knew I was not going to touch it in Iceborne. Its Gen/GU counterpart already pissed me off too much. Hearing that theme music after 2 years instantly reminded me of that tilt. Cheers for whooping its ass and with my main weapon no less! Awesome run!

Yian Garuga was such a unique monster to me. MHW was my first one, and by the time Garuga was released in Iceborne he just seemed so odd but such a necessary odd.

Im looking at this, with same build as mine but your echo spin range is bigger, mods? also each of your attacks do more hits aside from the slam, frame delay? How much exhaust and stun you have? I dunno...

I honestly don't know what you're talking about, I'm not using any mods that modify range or damage, there's no point in that at all especially if I want to make content like this. Maybe you don't have the same skills as me, or at the same level, or you don't have the same horn, or your weapon is not fully upgraded, no idea.

I've been watching channels with MHF content such as AzureStarStone and Narugarex for a decade so I know what's up with this game, however I don't have it set-up yet and honestly I don't really got the time for a playthrough of it

Valor Style is my favorite, just use it with Absolute Readiness tbh, none of the HH Arts are that good unfortunately. But if there's one you like then Guild HH is still solid

The soundtrack yes, but Garuga's sounds no, not by myself. I'm using a mod that changes almost all the sounds from pre-World existing monsters back to the ones they had in old games (this includes Rathalos and Rathian having their old roars for example)
