He almost becomes the wolf at the beginning, and when it stalks around so are his hands.

Ha ha. Glen Guld is another example you could show. However, I prefer a straight position like Yundi Li or Kissin.
@user-jk2df2ez8m4 жыл бұрын
Is that the only thing you gathered from his performance? His back? I believe the moment you start playing at the same level as Alexander does, your teacher will forget about the way you sit at the piano. So save your breath.

@thomasthompson63783 жыл бұрын
@@albertomartin4812 There's a performance by him of the Prokofiev 3rd here on youtube that I believe will finally be considered the definitive performance. It's beyond anything I've ever heard in any other performance.
@thomasthompson63783 жыл бұрын
@@tuberobotto I'm sure that he could do exactly that; but doing so wouldn't work well with the the Little Red Riding Hood piece. She's running away from a wolf who is determined to kill and eat her. One of the things that makes this performance so fine is the way that Alexander virtually lives the music (which is exactly why he's sweating so much at the end). He's both the wolf and little red riding hood, and the conflict between those two roles is difficult to portray pianistically without running into trouble. This is one of Rachmaninoff's most difficult pieces, and Alexander handles it exceptionally well.

He is truly a prodigy and already a great pianist. So is Trifonov. One great pianist does not play everything great, even if we think they should. None of these great pianist, including the great Horowitz, my favorite, played Mozart like Alicia De La Rocha or Bach like Glenn Gould. What these great pianists have is the virtuosic vehicle and time to continue to leave their legacy as did Horowitz. But to compare this young genius with another great genius is just a matter of taste. If someone wants to put this young great pianist down, let them first upload their playing of the same work so we can see their perspective!!! .
