The word “Salāt” comes from the root ‘S-L-W’ which means ‘to connect, to link, to join together’ and thus it refers to doing that which CONNECTS you to your Lord. In Sūrah 75:31-32, the word “Salāt” is made opposite to “turning away” which tells us that it means “to turn TOWARDS” or “closely follow” something. Therefore, based on this and based on context, it should actually be translated as simply “worship” or even “duty” since those are things “BINDING on you” and which bring you closer in ‘connection’ to God, and in closer connection to what He wants. This is also how it is mainly used throughout the Qur’an, contrary to popular belief (which sees it as just meaning ‘5 daily ritual prayers’). So the statement “aqeemu al-Salāt” throughout the Qur’an actually means: “Uphold your worship & duties” which is a call to follow on our obligations towards God & His creation, including not only worship (‘prayer’), but also preserving family connections, speaking for truth & justice, and in general doing what is right. There is further evidence for this, since in the Qur’an we find examples that perfectly match this definition, and which do NOT allow for the meaning of “5 daily ritual prayers”. For example, in Sūrah 6:92 we read the following fascinating verse: *”This is also a Scripture that We have revealed-full of blessing-confirming what exists before it, and so that you may warn the Major City and everyone around it. Those who believe in the Afterlife will believe in it-and they are ALREADY DEDICATED TO THEIR SALĀT.”* Question-how could someone who doesn’t believe in the Qur’an yet, be dedicated & committed to their ‘Salāt’ (“5 daily ritual prayers”) when they aren’t even fully Muslim yet, but simply “believe in the Afterlife”? The answer is that they can’t-it makes no sense. But if we understand “Salāt” here to mean “duty” or “worship” in the general sense of the word, then suddenly it all makes sense. There are people in the world who don’t yet believe in the Qur’an and have never received the message, BUT they still believe in God & the afterlife, and are dedicated to their MORAL DUTIES and GOOD DEEDS-their OBLIGATIONS in life; such as giving charity, etc.-and thus they are still CONNECTING to God (the very root word of ‘salāt’) in their own unique way, which thus makes them sincere people who are ready & prone to accept the message once they receive it. Suddenly now this verse makes much more sense. The final example I will give to drive this point home-and there are MANY more-is Qur’an 11:87 (Sūrah Hūd) which says the following: *The people said, “O Shuaib-does your SALĀT require that we give up what our ancestors worshiped, or doing with our money whatever we want? Sure, you are the one who is intelligent and wise!* _(Qur’an 11:87)_ In this amazing passage we read that the people of Shu’ayb-an ancient Arabian prophet who existed WAY before the Prophet Muhammad-not only had a “Salāt”, but that his people attached his “Salāt” as the REASON or CAUSE for the message he was preaching. If this word meant “ritual prayers”, then what sense does it make for anyone to say “Does your ritual prayer require you to command these things”? It makes no sense at all. An abstract ‘prayer’ cannot “command” anything. But now, translate the word “Salāt” as “duty”-or in this case “job” or “mission” (i.e your duties & obligations which you are connected/bound to)-then suddenly it all makes sense, and we have this translation: *They said, “O Shuaib-does your JOB require that we abandon what our ancestors worshiped, or doing with our money whatever we want? Sure, you are the one who is intelligent and wise!* _(Qur’an 11:87)_ Now it all makes sense. The prophet Shuayb’s people are frustrated and want to know if his MISSION-his JOB-his DUTY & TASK of preaching God’s message to them-whether part of that requires them to do what they don’t want to, such as letting go of their false gods or controlling how they spend their money. *So to conclude:* The word “Salāt” like many other words in the Qur’an has a wide range of meanings depending on the context, but usually just means “worship” in general (what we think of as ‘prayer’-which is badly translated though since that is actually “Du’ā” or asking Allah for things) but also usually means “Fulfilling your Duty” or “Upholding your Obligations” which means doing the commands that we are required for us to obey & follow as, part of God’s Law. And Allah knows best. Salam Alaikum to all.

❎❎ Question: What can an average Muslim do for the ills of his society? He can help disbelievers in another country and maybe his own country gets some benefit if his concern is real. For example, dairy farmers in other non Muslim countries can be advised not to gamble, wear tattoos and drink alcohol if they want their animals and farm to be safe. Forest fires are happening due to Allah's curse on very evil people. Producing healthy milk is not easy. Racists and religious sectarian crazies can't whether they call themselves Muslims or something else. "Bro,I don't get such simple ideas but I m feeling I can save Palestine" Do your 5 daily prayers with humbleness.

It would of took just 10 Seconds ⏰🤦♂ We can only gain salvation if we believe Jesus is God according to the Christians Unbelievable Fact 👉🏻 Jesus had plenty of time to preach and he even had time to give fishing lessons 🐟 👉🏻 Yet Jesus did not even once say l am God ( It would of took just 1O seconds ) 100 % Crystal clear evidence Jesus is not God 👉🏻 Jesus proved he is not God 👉🏻 Jesus said do not call me good ” No one is good except God alone ( Luke 18 : 19 ) More solid proof Jesus is not God 👉🏻 Bible says no one can see God 👉🏻 As we know Jesus has been seen ( 1 John 4:20 - John 5:37 )
