Happy New Year, Doz :) Nice to see this Osglim working! I saw something similar in a very old Cossor Oscilloscope as a teenager. Gas filled devices are a whole different world..... I've a hydrogen filled Barreter in my old GEC TV from 1956 to control the inrush current to the valve heaters.. The TV still works (so one of my better repairs, lol). Anyway, well done and keep the videos coming. All the best :)

I have a couple of Osglim light bulbs from the 1940's, these plug in to a standard bayonet fitting & run on 240vac. they have a beehive internal shape. I guess they were intendrd as night lights, the envelope is a clear standard light bulb shape.

It did... Left the discharge switch on. It's only designed to discharge a cap.

I do hope the power supply survived. How much did you pay for that little item? Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year.

I can't remember how much. It was a good while ago! I wouldn't have paid much more than a tenner for it.

Is that an old B17 fitting
@AndyDoz

I've always known it as a small bayonet. It probably has a real name somewhere! Same as some oven and sewing machine lamps.

@AndyDoz the small bayonet holders are B17 they were used for cabinets and wall lights their not made anyone it's all screw in E14 lamps I don't think many companies use standed B22 bayonet lamps apart from us
